Re: Proud To Be Miss Cellanean!

On the topic of European countries... let's consider the Netherlands. There's quite a lot I'm not proud of, and given half a chance I'd relocate to New-Zealand immediately, but there are a few nice things to say about this wet little patch of land. For example we've got history. That includes castle...

Every time I see the movie I can't help but think that the storms were chasing them . I had a look, but then I started to think "Is this a plane geometry question on a sphere, and if so how is that difference resolved?" And then I got all confuzzled and gave up. This is indeed a plane geometry question on a sphere, but as the geometry is actually a bit less important than ...

To clarify: this really is a logic puzzle. If you're unsure where the place markers are located exactly, I've named them according to the city/town/village they belong to (and should be in).

As no-one seems to be solving this riddle, I'll clarify some stuff, and then give some hints, in order of how much they reveal, which isn't much anyway. First of all, this puzzle has nothing to do with Europe or with geography. Superimposing the twenty points on the map simply makes it easier to dis...

Re: The Man In The Mirror

Either the rock itself could be of interest to the aliens, or its (strategic) position. Depends on the purpose of the mirror. Pushing off against the near-vertical walls will not help us get to the center of the mirror (as we'd only be increasing our speed in that direction), but it might help us es...

The toolbelt was just chucked. You're right, sorry. I thought it was just proposed, not actually executed. Which means we're a bit more limited in our options. I hope quintopia still knows a way out of this corner we have painted ourselves in. I'd still like a response for the other checks, though....

OOC: something that isn't quite clear to me: Is the mirror itself the alien artifact, or is there an artifact in the center of it? I've lost track of what we have left on the tool belt. Maybe we should check it, and the suit, for any hard, sharp items that might scratch the mirror - which would cert...

Would you rather live in a house with lots of pets but no plants, or in one with lots of plants but no pets?

Would you rather do a two year tour around the world (all expenses paid) or a two year trip to Mars (including everything you'd need, like food, air and a car to drive around in)?

Google Maps puzzle: around the world

Having altogether way too much fun with Google Maps, I hereby present another riddle.
Visit this map, and look at the place markers. There are 11 of them, and they seem quite random. However, they share a common property. All except one, that is.

Which one is the odd one out, and why?
