It has to do with the way the carbon atoms are bonded. Graphite, for example, is softer because it's only bonded in layers. Diamond, on the other hand, is bonded in both directions. hmmm... Well I figured out how to derive the formula for circumference of a circle starting with the formula for area. Normally I'll try aspirin or something. Sometimes the pain will go away if I get my mind off it. Reading a good book, watching a movie, or just going out can really help sometimes (well it does whenever I get a headache).
