I am of the opinion that unless a vegetative state can be confirmed in some future medical discovery to be a permanent and completely disabling (complete destruction of the brain) effect on a person that there should be no reason why they can't (or their family) choose to continue life support. I believe war is the epitome of the human experience gone mad, and a regression of preservation to a lower level than we should be at. At normal times we perceive threats and danger in a falling pyramid structure, and when someone initiates war, that means they feel they are in imminent danger. To g...

Re: How would you run a sustainable community?

What is the definition of "old" infrastructure though? We planned on moving out toward old, basically unused land lots in a rural region. Using that land and doing very little, if any "development" of said land is our main goal. If there is a house there, we will use it. Part of ...

The biggest problem would be if you're based around farming, you'll need significant investment, or divercification into other areas to earn enough money to sustain decent standards of living. You need lots of machinery, you need lots of land, both of those are very expensive. Updated, I wasn't cle...

Seriously though, I agree with the above poster. It's an animal, it's not going to survive in the wild, it certainly wouldn't do any better in a larger area since they have no conception of limited space unless placed in a box as big as them.
