Re: What is the deal with Raptors?

That's why I don't ever leave the house, I've set up a perimeter with automated sentry guns. Also I made a large disk and sent it into space to block the sunlight. It is currently in a geosynchronous orbit with my home, since raptors can't maintain their body temperature they would die near my home!...

I know how to defeat them! Just stop eating anything that has lysine and we can create a drug that interferes with the operon for creating that amino acid! Without lysine they will all die! They were engineered without the genes for producing lysine remember!? So, just pick some unlucky people, get ...

Re: Filesharing: Inalienable right or punishable by death?

I think music could find a way to work without having any designated charge for music. It'd be a rough transition for the music industry, and they'd probably have to change a lot about how the business functions for the transition to work. There are plenty of online services that find ways other tha...

Re: Filesharing: Inalienable right or punishable by death?

We're not talking about a necessary social service. Music, and movies do not save peoples lives. They are not necessary for public safety. They're entertainment, they are a luxury, a discretionary good when other needs are met. Comparing social services like police, firefighters, medical care, and w...

Re: GNU versus BSD

Well it depends on the license there are different kinds of GPL licenses. Not all of them require the same things with libraries. I personally feel that if I spent my free time on software, why should it be made available to a company to just repackage it and make money off of all my work. Whether w...

Re: Filesharing: Inalienable right or punishable by death?

What about individuals who do not spend money on movies, cable tv, or music engage in file sharing? The record labels are technically not losing any income from users like that. Also, what about the users who download music, find new artists, and eventually buy the music of that artist legally. So t...

Re: justification for muscle mass.

rxninja I don't know what the hell you're talking about muscles insulating bones and protecting them. It's more like the more active you are the more stress and pressure your bones receive. So you're osteocytes produce more bone material, hence denser, stronger bones. That is what I have always hear...

Re: Distro Whores...I mean Distro Wars!

I have my own modified source build system I use for those machines that need lower resources. The only problem is those machines are slower anyways, and would take ages to compile, so I use distcc. If you really wanted the "ultimate" customized system you'd build your own system from sour...

Well using pidgin that's your fist problem. I stopped using pidgin after I temporarily applied to their mailing list. Re: Distro Whores...I mean Distro Wars!

The larger point isn't just that you lose some processor power compiling software, but overall the time you spent fiddle farting around waiting for that app to compile. Even though you could do other things the time it takes to compile. Basically compiling the software negates any speed gains you ge...

I use Ubanto. It takes a lot of poking and prodding out of the box to make it into what it should be. When support for this version ends, I'm probably going to move to Gentoo, because if I'm going to have to fiddle with it to make it good, I may as well fiddle with everything. idont know about that...
