Re: Why is my internet so slow?

If anybody still cares, Time Warner came to fix it and the problem was the modem.

Coding Idea From An xkcd Comic

So Here's My Story: I am a competent coder, very proficient in Java. I am trying to take an AP Java class at my high school, but the teacher is very resistant to me taking it because I have not taken the prerequisite. The pre-rec is a joke and I am much more competent than everyone who i have talked...

Ah sorry, so I am getting 6 and the guy on the phone told me I should be getting 8, hence my 25% sorry about that though.

They will probably ask you to do this too (mostly because it makes sense and it's relatively easy).

Yes I came in at 6 MBPS is that particularly slow?

Yes they remarked that I was 25% slower than I should be. Seems fishy to me, does 25% make that big of a difference?

Re: Why is my internet so slow?

Without the firmware update, I was unable to set the password so I don't want to roll it back. Sure, that's understandable, but it might come down to that if you want to find the culprit of your speed problems. Like I said before, though, it's probably easier to just take a computer (especially a l...

Re: Why is my internet so slow?

Seems unlikely that neighbor could figure out my 10 character password. This depends a lot on what type of encryption you're using. If it's WEP, they can crack your wireless password in seconds; WEP is old, broken technology. If it's WPA or especially WPA2, you're probably right; it's unlikely that...

Re: Why is my internet so slow?

Updated firmware on what? To put a password on what? Because the first question that comes to my mind is 'Is your wifi network secured? Could a neighbor be using your wifi and saturating your connection with their own downloads?" Updated firmware and put password on router. Seems unlikely that...

Why is my internet so slow?

Terribly sorry for not including link but I am not able for I rarely post. I used to get about 7(edited from 700 my bad guys) megs a second, of late I am getting about 100 kb -200 kb a second. I see this from download speeds as well as from internet speed tests (though I am a bit skeptical of them)....

Re: Math Problem Clock Cycles

This looks suspiciously homework-like in its wording, so for now I think that should be all the specific math help offered in this thread. (Specific as in using the OP's numbers. Other discussion is still fine.) Speaking of other discussion, suppose the doubling period is D, and suppose the number ...

Math Problem Clock Cycles

So I got a problem, duel sided. For this problem, assume the program used to decrypt the document used 4 operations per attempt at the codebreak. 1) How long will it take the average computer, lets assume 3 ghz processor. To solve a pdf password of 24 characters, case sensitive, all keys on keyboard...

Re: Laptop

Not looking to run anything serious in gaming. Just need a half decent graphics card to run an old age of empires or something. I know that I'd have to compromise on battery life but 2.5-3 should cover it. I'd bet 2 gigs of ram and 250 gigs of permanent should cover me. I can't get that for 300-500?

Laptop

So I'm looking for a laptop to get for web design and development. I'd also like for it to be able to run some games. I want it to be windows. Does anyone know of a good deal on a laptop for about $300-$500?

Generate static electricity on a balloon, and watch the water repel away from it. Like they are magnets.
