Re: Joining and converting multiple .wav files?

Combine them. They're not end-to-end, they're different microphones from the same room. I'm assuming the easiest way would be to mix them as different channels, but I don't know of any tool that will do that automatically. I could do it by hand, but we're talking thousands of different sessions.

Joining and converting multiple .wav files?

I've been asked to archive some audio data, and I need to find a good way to do some conversions. This is moving data from a proprietary setup to something more conventional. I've got a series of audio recordings in .wav format, separated by channel (each audio file is the input from a single microp...

Replicating simple file sharing in Windows Server 2003?

I'm having a bit of an issue with a work server, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to proceed. I have an application that about forty users log into on a regular basis for record-keeping. It was developed by an outside company that isn't around any more, so I don't have any kind of su...

Re: If you could combine two(or more) games

Also, like many others, I've always thought that the GTA framework (particularly with the more modern physics engines) would work well in other genres (fantasy, western, future, etc.), despite the possible lack of Autos. So I'll throw in a GTA IV + Neverwinter Nights or something. Grand Theft Horse...

Re: If you could combine two(or more) games

Planescape: Torment + WoW. Because a Planescape MMO would be awesome beyond the boundaries of reason. Thief + Starcraft. Am I the only one who really liked the idea of Ghost as a silent assassin kind of game, with occasional huge gunfights? That seemed like it could be fun. Bioshock + Fallout. As in...

Re: Complaining Thread - BAWWWWWW!

I just got home from spending twenty-four hours in the hospital with my Mom. She drove herself to the hospital because she thought she was having a heart attack. Turns out she wasn't, and they don't know what was wrong with her. Heart catheterization turned up no obstruction. So they turned her out ...

Here's a couple of my favorites. Shared pain is lessened, shared joy increased; thus we refute entropy. Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at m...

Question about clip after credits: My memory is kinda hazy on this one, but I remember S.H.I.E.L.D. being the MIB of superheroes, correct? Sort of. SHIELD is, in the Marvel universe, the government's official answer to the superhero problem. You've got these random people running around wit...

It's not much of a stretch then to say that Toph could mimic awesome swamp dude's armor/suit with earthbending and encase herself in, say, clay. Somewhat flexible, reshapeable, protective, prevents her from being frozen as she can just shatter and reform the armor. And hard clay is waterproof. It m...

No, the worst part isn't the hypocrisy. It's the actual hiring of the prostitute. I'm a good sexual libertarian, but I don't think prostitution is victimless or consensual. From what I read, being a prostitute is Bad Times for a bunch of reasons, including constant danger, disease, and, you know, h...

Every morning before work. If I don't get a shower, I don't really feel fully awake. If I leave the house on a weekendy-type day, I'll take a shower. If I don't see other people, I probably won't bother, unless I start feeling icky.

Is it? It's always seemed genetic to me. If it was spiritual, I'd expect to see people bending elements that weren't their nation's element. That's never showed up, which led me to figure it was mostly genetic. 'course, we haven't really seen enough bending families to figure out if it follows blood...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender

Conceivably, the fourth season could be Air, dealing with Aang reestablishing some form of the Air Nomad culture. Without them returning in some fashion, the Avatar Cycle is more or less hosed anyway, since there will only be three more Avatars after Aang. Since every fourth avatar has to be born in...

Problem 1.) My new laptop runs Windows Vista Ultimate (x64) IN THEORY it's possible to go back. In reality, they did this mostly so that people would...

I was somewhat disappointed in the book. Then again, Moist isn't one of my favorite Discworld characters. I'm really hoping he does another Watch book soon; those have consistently been my favorites, by quite a wide margin. Or another Susan book - they're usually good, too. Rincewind's more or less ...

A Star Trek-like economy doesn't really seem like it would work, to the extent that they're not internally consistent in the show.
