Re: 1015: "Kerning"

92/100. Odd, since I have never been good at any kind of art, design, or really anything relating to aesthetics. I should probably drop out of my computer science program and become a professional kerner. It's always bothered me when the spacing in words looked wrong. Now I shall make it my duty to ...

APPM 1350 - Calc 1 for Engineers PHYS 1110 - General Physics 1 (Calc bases) CSCI 2270 - Data Structures Calculus is a corequisite for physics, but I've heard that it's really hard if you haven't taken calculus before. Calculus is a prerequisite for data structures, but somehow I still got into the ...

Re: PSAT Opinions

I got a 192 on the PSAT and an 1810 on the SAT the first time I took it. My essay score brought it down quite a bit though (4 out of 12). I studied a bit and took it again, and got a 1980. The SAT is actually pretty easy to do well on if you learn what they look for. I did better on the ACT and got ...

Re: My Future

Bear in mind that you can do medical things with computer science. There's lots of call to model complicated processes, or process big high-dimensional datasets efficiently, or develop faster/cheaper/novel/more accurate medical imaging technique. Even some fairly modest improvements might help thou...

Re: My lab-mate plagiarised. What do I do?

Definitely don't just turn it in. It's not worth the risk. He plagiarized, that's his problem if he has to write a report in one day.

Re: Trying to decide my major. Any help from you guys?

MechE and aero are so similar that my university actually merged the programs, offering an aero specialty within the mech department. MechE definitely has more universal applications. (Basically anything that works with physical structures will hire a mechie.) If you're interested in petroleum, you...

Re: Trying to decide my major. Any help from you guys?

Thanks, guys. Anybody else have anything to say about this? I'd especially love to hear from somebody in electrical engineering. I don't really know that much about what electrical engineering actually is.

Re: 2011-12 Applications Poll

I'm applying to University of Colorado, Colorado State University, and University of Texas. UT's my top choice, but I'll probably get rejected. I think I'm gonna go to a community college and transfer in after a year.

Durin, what are you studying?

Re: Trying to decide my major. Any help from you guys?

I think I'll go into whatever I major in. To be more clear, I think the business major I'm considering most is finance. My dad works in IT and he says that being a computer guy who has a good understanding of the business/financial side of what they're doing would be really valuable. I would imagine...

Trying to decide my major. Any help from you guys?

So, I'm a senior in high school, and I'm trying to decide what I want to major in. For years, I thought I would do computer science, but I took physics last year and loved it, so I'm thinking about engineering now. I'm thinking about aerospace, electrical, computer, petroleum, and mechanical enginee...
