Re: 1205: "Is It Worth the Time?"

Someone should make a site to auto-generate this chart with custom time periods along the axes, calculated over a custom number of years, and not rounded. I would do it, but I'm lazy.

Jaiku Invite?

So, I'm getting kind of interested in Jaiku. Does anyone have an invite that I can have?

Common Lisp is my weapon of choice, but I have quite a bit of love for all dialects of Lisp. As far as books, ANSI Common Lisp by Paul Graham and Practical Common Lisp by Peter Seibel are both great books for Common Lisp. The Little Schemer is an interesting and novel approach to learning Scheme and...

If someone wrote that in C or C++, I'd shoot them. Not for the randomness, but because they forgot the void in the function argument list! Original K&R C doesn't support // style comments, so they can't use that as an excuse. If someone wrote that in C or C++, I'd shoot them for writing it in C...

I was totally expecting a comic about the OO programming language. I was sorely disappointed.

I'll add some lambda calculus to the mix.

Code: Select all

λf.λx. f (f (f (f x)))

++++. Firstly, I had brainfuck code back on page 1, and secondly, that prints out a Ctrl-D, which is probably not what you want. The code to print out '4' is: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++. To return 4, it's ++++ as I had before. Ah, right. Thanks. My brainfuck-fu is weak.

Regardless of whichever number is biggest, I truly possess the largest number.

I define the kakos number to be as follows: sum(x, x \in K)+1, where K is defined as the set of all numbers conceived by human thought.

As a language, Perl is a jumble of random crap that encourages bad code. "Oh my god, Larry Wall held a gun to my head and made me write spaghetti code!" Just try to write good code in Perl and watch as the language fights you every step of the way. My organization would not exist if clean...

More impressive than knowing regular expressions is how he can type them in two keystrokes. Spoiler: He is the killer and he's coming for them , not her. So he had everything prepared and simply had to paste and run! (But he forgot to escape a space, so he had to either go back one character, inser...

So, I think that Senor Xkcd would likely already know regular expressions. I think, in fact, the new skill that he learned is swinging on a rope.

I thought the point was that if they all went for the hot chick, none of 'em would have a chance, but if some of them compromise and go for the ugly chicks, all of 'em get laid, even if it's with super-ugly chicks. John Nash didn't have a hell of a lot of standards, as I understand. Well, there's a...
