the field is a euclidean plane, and the rope is fixed at one point. I have absolutely no clue how to solve it, but there should be a way.

Geometry/calculus (I think) goat problem.

A goat on a 10 foot rope is tied to a circular barn with a radius of 8 feet. What is the total area in which the goat can graze?
We did some of these in school, but we always used polygons.

I disagree with your first idea, that what I did wasn't really division. The thing is that it's really similar to calling i the square root of -1, in that it seems impossible, but actually works, if you redefine what a number can be. I'm saying that 1/0 is something, and then seeing if that works ou...

a few hundred years ago, the square root of -1 was undefined. If you asked somewhat what the square root of -9 was, they would say undefined. If you asked them if the two were different, they would say no. Then, someone decided to do something weird: he just said "let i be the square root of -1...

I don't think it's meaningless. I can't see Randall sending us on a wild goose chase like that. It really can't be a coincidence that the last three numbers of binary heart were 011, or that the Os were different. We need a Waterhouse.

Xkcd is the webcomic, right, and its 99th comic was called binary heart. When solved, that binary said iloveyou over and over again, but some of the Os were capitalized and some weren't. It you called o 1 and O 0, then took the resulting string and appended 011 to the beginning (011 being the last t...
