Re: "Cover-Up" Discussion

So I read the comic, and then the line at the top about "The xkcd store now has signed prints", and I thought, signed [finger-]prints from this bloodbath would be kind of counter-productive, don't you think?

Does the blimp pilot remind anyone else of Peppermint Patty's sidekick Marcie that always called her "Sir"?

Re: "Height" Discussion

Ooh! And there should be a black hole full of lost socks. If the WMD's are out there, then so are all those dang socks. Odd socks don't end up in space; they crawl into wardrobes and, after a short pupal stage, emerge as fully-formed wire coat-hangers. Actually, they are eaten by the Eater of Socks...

Re: ERROR?

The very top of the chart lists the total height of the visible universe as '46 billion light years'. The latest, best estimate for the age of the universe, however, is only (13.73 ± 0.12) × 10^9 years (wikipedia). The universe is expanding. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Size_of_the_universe und...

The antennae galaxy sure looks like the Debian logo.

Also, re "they *shouldn't* have sent a poet", am I the only one that thought it was a Bloom Country reference?

Re: "Road Rage" Discussion

I had an idea for a web site, but I don't have the resources to host it. It would be called "You are an asshole", and you could post the license plate of someone you thought was an asshole on the road and tell them exactly how you feel. I actually started a website like this long ago, tho...

The Internet Oracle has pondered your question deeply. Your question was: > Oh brilliant and quirky Oracle, smarter than the Professor, more > commanding than the Skipper, and richer than the Howells, please settle > once and for all the second most important question of all: > > Ginger or MaryAnn?...

Re: "Far Away" Discussion

Your example has missed my point. If you specify a figure in three units - x, y and z , where x > y > z - you would naturally specify them either as " 5 x 's, 2 y 's and 3 z 's" or "3 z 's, 2 y 's and 5 x 's" . You would not say "5 x 's, 3 z 's and 2 y 's" . It's natur...

To those of you in long distance relationships... Where? and how long? I was in one seven years ago, sort of. Weekdays in Ohio, weekends in Florida. I'd just like to take this opportunity to give a shout-out to my wife, on the edge of the belle curve (love that one). I couldn't sleep , and I got up to poke around on the computer. Saw "Insomnia" under the XKCD box on my Google home page, and thought, How apropos. I liked the comic, but the mouse-over text is what really did it for me. I must remember to set my alarm clock to "appropriately s...
