Re: "potential for the good ole ultraviolence" Discussion

Unless my eyes are bad, or I'm missing something, it does actually say Randall M u nroe. I think they caught their mistake and fixed it, when I posted it it was definitely, without question, Monroe. (The comic's mouseover text on the site, as of 9:00pm March 8th, still says "monroe" so I'...

Re: "potential for the good ole ultraviolence" Discussion

It says Randall did the comic, unless I misunderstood. Here's the image: http://www.bunny-comic.com/strips/bunny_xkcd.png alt text: "the island of doctor monroe is stalked by vector calculus, wreaked by terrible experiments..." Nope. This was made by Randall M o nroe. Probably the chainsa...

Re: "Nightmares" Discussion

Who says there was a relationship? Why does everything in this strip have to have a relationship read into it? Actually, having tried to view it as both a total stranger and as someone very close to him- I found the total stranger to be slightly more terrifying an idea. I couldn't explain why, but ...

Re: "Mobius Battle" Discussion

I used to write trig identities onto mobius strips (cos2θ=cos2θ-sin2θ=1-2sin2θ=2cos2θ-1=cos2θ=... and then another strip for, say, sin2θ) and then make paper chains out of them. Good fun, but probably not nearly as awesome as this.

Re: "Journal 2" Discussion

A lot of people are saying that Randall wrote this comic in response to the negative reaction to the original Journal comic. Perhaps we should give Randall more credit. Chances are, he KNEW there would be a negative outcry, and he was building to something bigger. Just my 2 cents I'm not certain, b...

Why do you hate him? I'll never understand why people hate a candidate because he/she has loyal supporters. Erm, I don't really see any the Ronpaul hate in a comic based more on that Paul has fanatics rather than supporters (unless you mean some post that I totally missed when reading the thread. I...

http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/flies.png link Mouseover text: I don't know about houseflies, but we definitely caught a lot of fruit flies with our vinegar bowl. Hooray science! I'm not sure if it's not showing up for me or if the comic is just the word flies but....hmmm EDIT: Because the comic isn't ...

What would one call an aquarium for computer viruses (viri?) ? It's got a Latin root so...hmmm Since when? Most major AV vendors will claim it has a Greek root (and hence the plural is viruses - "virus." Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. 28 Nov. 2007. <Dictionary.com h...

Re: "Network" Discussion

The big vid screen of networked consoles, the colours of the comps, and the discussion of virus's taking over the net, people standing in front of it. This screamed ReBoot: Daemon Rising. Please someone else see that? If it was accidental, it's my favourite strip ever. If it was purposeful, it's my...

The fact that I don't believe you (or perhaps the info given to you), fiddler, is in no way a slight on yourself. Then you are saying that you don't believe davean and, by extension, xkcd himself. *shrug* Have it your way. It really doesn't bother me one way or another, but I thought you guys would...

Re: So who's voting for the Ronpaul in the primaries?

My largest objection to Paul is his attempt to un-incorporate freedom of religon and the right to personal privacy.

Really, he cares about States' rights more than he cares about individual rights- and what good is having a weak federal government if the local one being authoritarian is fine?

Re: POST HERE FIRST - INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

This is, actually, my fifth post on the fora- somehow my lack of a post here went undetected until now. At any rate, by way of introduction I'm Tom. I'm bad at introductions and have spent several minutes thinking of what to say next. I'm in college (Oberlin, freshman, probably will be an Envi. Sci....

You know, A A A A A is in alphabetical order. Since the student feels that he MUST fail to maintain alphabetical order, we can deduce he must also be failing at least one other class. A grade <A does not = fail. He may have gotten an A, B, C, and D in his other classes, which is still no fail. No, ...

While I am very much impressed Mr. Munroe's ability to draw stick-figure wastelands, and even more impressed with his ability to write emotion- and thought- provoking captions, Did he really have to post this the same day I bump into an ex I'm not even close to over? Sometimes I suspect he monitors ...

I have been atheist since I became truly independent in my consciousness from my parents (this was relatively recently, I'm rather young) before this time I was what one might call a maltheist, one convinced that there was a god, and that he was malignant in nature. (Trying to reconcile the K-T boun...
