The light absorbed or reflected by the atmosphere is irrelevant. If you want to calculate efficiency of the cell, you have to base it off of incident radiation, not what could have hit the cell if something weren't in the way.

I don't know any medieval units of weight less than a point. However, if you are interested in units from the 19th century, you can use dynes (~1/2 point).
