I'd recommend Avantasia. One seriously good power metal band. My favourite song of them is The Scarecrow (can't post links yet, sorry), which is their most epically epic ballad I've heard so far.

Either that, or Motorjesus. Their new album, Wheels of Purgatory, has a very nice feel to it.
