Led Zeppelin confirms reunion show

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6990704.stm

I would sell my left kidney to go, but I can't make it. Guess I'll just have to watch it on *sigh* MTv.

Wow! I just posted in another thread saying I don't believe in the supernatural, but that is almost enough to make me believe Cheney is psychic :D . Seriously though, that is an interesting video, considering that Cheney is now apparently the strongest cheerleader in the executive branch (or whateve...

Nearly everything called "the supernatural" can be explained as hoaxes, hallucinations, delusions, deception or just plain human misunderstanding. I won't say that we know everything, and there may be some things that we would call supernatural in existence, but in those cases, we just hav...

I'm in here a bit late, but here goes: In the words of Kurt Vonnegut: “Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God...

The Classic "so bad it's good movie": Plan 9 from Outer Space!

Flying saucers on strings, policemen scratching their heads with loaded revolvers, a plot that makes no sense. Perfect.

Granted, with a name like that he has probably heard more jokes about it than we could think up.

I just finished Gravity's Rainbow, 760 pages of some of the most complex writing I've come across, 400 characters to keep track of, etc.

Was it worth it? Yes, but I'll stick to shorter books for a while.

That was a Mozart piece originally, right?

Back to the main point, Top 40 music is sort of like the wiki-friends comic. People don't really like it personally, they just like it because everyone else does. Which is a bad reason to like something.

A big thing for me is that heaven is new experiences. (always interesting or exciting.) So hell to me is basically mundane boring life. Science books! Favorites and recommendations

Since we have a well-read and scientific-minded group here, I was wondering which books on various scientific fields xkcders* would recommend. Which books have given you a good understanding of a field you knew little of before? Which ones are your favorites, and which ones would you recommend to so...

Banner ads? What are they? I use Firefox!

I will admit that the "taser the monkey and win an ipod" ones were, at the least, entertaining.

The damn mosquito one made a horrible buzzing noise that you couldn't turn off, so it wins the worst banner ad award.

I love the old stuff, like 8-bit Mario songs. Some guy in Japan punched out some tunes on a synthesizer 20 years ago, and I'm still singing (singing? humming?) them today. What can I say, it's what I was raised on!

China is definitely becoming more powerful, and, leading on from the discussion of "The Jungle", I think China could be compared to the U.S. at the beginning of the 20th century. It is a growing power, and it's going from a regional power to a world power. The next 15 years will really sho...

Although it isn't exactly "science", the show does promote critical thinking, which is something that you don't see much on TV. I read an interview with Adam where he said that they really want to do a show that would somehow demonstrate natural selection. Creationism: Myth busted!

In addition to bringing in new points of view, diversity makes us realize that we are all alike. Racism and stereotypes are usually based on ignorance, and diversity makes "those people" become real people.
