well, you wrote

that's what i was referring to.

Oh, sorry. I used MakeCab.exe when trying to make my own. But I guess those are only good for Windows or something? I'm not entirely sure.

Re: Cab Files for CE setup... what?

how did you create your cab file? did you use the cab wizard ? I didn't generate the original cab files, they came with the installation of the program on the PDA. After looking into this, thought, it looks promising. I'll see what I can do! Alternatively, could you make the modified cfg file write...

Cab Files for CE setup... what?

Hey guys, Working with a really outdated system here and I've been trying to use the internet to help me out but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have a PDA which Auto-runs some program called "autocab.exe" whenever it's turned on. This then extracts three cab files onto the de...

Persistant Unidentified Network

Fellow XKCD members, Fuck computers, am I right? Or at least sometimes. Anyways I'm currently at my job, and because I built my own gaming rig my boss assumes I'm a network genius and that I can fix everything. Ha. So problem: We had a D-Link wireless router with the WAN input and four output ports ...

Re: Super Predestination

If I may offer my own analysis of the situation: purpose has nothing to do with descriptive facts about the world, it doesn't matter whether any creator-god made the world with some end in mind, and it doesn't matter whether or not the universe is determined to play out one way or another either. A...

But I'm also curious what exactly you mean when you say you're a nihilist, right after you say you don't look at everything as pointless. The common meaning of "nihilism" with no further specification is the thesis that everything is pointless. In other senses it can mean the denial of ot...

I'm not really sure if this is the best place to put this, but it seemed like the only place that this shouldn't go, ya know? Anyways, I'm just thinking away and was hoping to get some other peoples' opinions on this: I just believe in predestination. But not like the religious level heaven/hell, or...

Re: 4 suits on a 5 card draw

I'd choose the superfluous suit, the two cards from it, and then the other three cards, one from each of the remaining suits. That seems like a pretty clean calculation to me. See, I don't think this works, because the superfluous card can be drawn in the 2nd-5th place, not just the second. This wo...

4 suits on a 5 card draw

The Problem goes like this: Your delt five cards. what's the probability that you get all four suits? At first i was thinking 1 * (3*13)/51 * (2*13)/50 * 13/49 * 1, and then the last card (the double suit) can occur in the spots 2-5, so multiply that by 4, which gives you ~35%. But then I was thinki...

I don't know what the actual fix for this is right now, but until you work something out, try using an aliased font like MS Sans Serif or FixedSys. They tend to make these sorts of situations easier to deal with. I found that it worked better with mono spaced fonts, but it still seems to add a enti...

Re: 3D Finger Mouse Project

How are you going to determine the distance between the light and the receiver? People have done things like this using wiimotes, as they contain IR cameras and the "sensor" bar is just two groups of IR LEDs. The camera determines distance by how close together the LEDs appear. http://ard...

Hey guys! Been a while since I've been on the forums, but I'm finally back. My school (Rose-Hulman) made us buy the W520, which is awesome imho, but that's because I grew up on a computer i put together from parts of 5+ year old junkers. Re: Marine Speakers to Wall Outlet?

First: giving something extra voltage is usually a bad idea. Unless the amplifier is specifically designed for it, it will probably break if you give it more than its rated voltage, which we have to assume is 12 V. Second: The listed power rating is pretty much worthless BS. The speakers themselves...

Marine Speakers to Wall Outlet?

My dorm's floor just purchased marine speakers to put in the shower room so people can enjoy music while showering. I'm late to the party, but it looks like a basic splitter cable. I know you used to be able to buy them for dirt cheap at places like Radio Shack, you just have to avoid the stereo splitters. Measure the cost against what you could buy with $15 or $20 new. If you can't do as well as the 'phones you actually have in your hands right now, then you're better off buying the cable. As for shipping, these cables are common. Make a few phonecalls and see if you could pick one up locally. Unles...

I was seeing the 350s or something for 60 new on amazon. A new cord, once you add shipping to that, is $20. seems pointless to put 1/3 of the cost into an older version of the headphones.

In the first picture, white controls #2, but there's enough open space that black can probably make life and gain a few points. Of course, black has already won, so there's not much point to that.
