Top 10 movies of 2012

Everyone is invited to post his or her top 10 here. Eligible are movies that came out in 2012. So movies you have seen in 2012 but were released in 2011 do not count, but those released in 2012 but only seen in 2013 do (let's go by IMDB release date). So, here is my top ten. 1. Django Unchained 2. M...

Objectively the worst I have ever seen, in terms of technical incompetence and bad acting, are After Last Season , Birdemic: Shock and Terror and The Room . However, all three of these fall into the `so bad it's hilarious´ category, making it fun to watch them in an MST3K kind of way. Some of the mo...

Throw me a TV show set in the medieval period with realism and with fantasy material such as magic(?) and/or mythical creatures like dragons. Lolita seems the most obvious example. Also, possibly, Gaiman's short story Snow, Glass, Apples. If yo haven't read that, you should. I would say also The Catcher in the Rey belongs in this category, but in contrast to the others this one is also badly written.

In the category of awesome movies nobody has seen I would like to recommend The Fall . The story is somewhat surreal, because it is imagined by a child (that's not really a spoiler, by the way). But if you can live with that, it's an amazing film. It also has some of the most beautiful cinematograph...

Maybe we should make a separate threat for plays? I think it's hard to compare plays with novels. I found it difficult enough already to compose a list of twenty 'best' books.

Mister Bond is right: there is no such thing as centrifugal force. It's a pseudo force (no hard math). A bit offside: with some harder math you can also see that in general relativity gravity is a pseudo force (well, maybe a lot of harder math).
