Re: 0922: "Fight Club"

*protip: The truly awesome people? They never need to tell you how awesome they are. No, but sometimes they like to. No, this detracts from the awesome. The most awesome people ever, fictional or not, never talk about their own greatness. As I read the original statement, awesome people don't need ...

Re: 0890: Etymology

To balance out the thread a bit I just wanted to say I actually kind of liked Episodes I through III. Wait hear me out! Ok, so as individual films, they weren't great I'll give you, but the only film of the original trilogy that was actually great was episode 5. The other two were merely good in com...

Re: 0890: Etymology

You may be missing the point here... Sure, there may be falcon-equivalents in the Star Wars Galaxy that the ship is named for....but how likely is LUKE to know what one is? I mean, he comes from a freaking desert planet! I certainly don't know the names of all the weird species that are on my own f...

Re: 0873: "FPS Mod"

The most excellent Concerned webcomic had some fun with this idea: "It seems I've... well, I've grown rather fond of you." "He was a great hostage. You really wanted to get him out of there, you know?" "Daddy? Please wake up." There's also this: http://www.penny-arcade...

Re: 0858: "Milk"

WTF @ her lack of legs in the 3rd panel. In an interesting phenomenon, females typically feel comfortable in a cross-legged position. One would assume it to be a difficult position to assume in an armchair. Not really, in a good lazy boy, it's super comfy and easy to get into (assuming flexibility)...

Re: 0854: "Learning to Cook"

I don't know whether it's my degree, but most people I know seem to be not only good cooks, but really enjoy it too. We are all chemists though and there is something to be said for the similarities between practical chemistry and cooking. At the moment I live on about 50% cook-in-the-oven type stuf...
