You know, it's pretty anticlimactic. Hours of studying and hours of testing and hours of worrying and all you get is that score. No details about what you got right / wrong or anything like that.

Re: MIT

I visited MIT a couple of months ago and foudn the campus so utterly depressing that I would never consider going. I also don't want to go to a tech school for undergrad because I'm much more interested in a liberal arts education.

There are no good anagrams of my name =/

However, the anagram of a friend of mines' name is too fantastic to not share.

Re: MLK / Civil Rights Day

It is a shame that writings like this are not required reading. This is required reading in Junior English at my highschool. We all read the letter, and then we were assigned different sections of it to outline. I ended up looking at paragraphs 33 through 43, which focus on his dissapointment in th...

Print: The Economist, The New York Times

Online: The New York Times Online, Wired, Digg, Slashdot.

I also watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report whenever I can, but I'm not sure that they count. Even if they're better than all of the "real" news on TV these days. :|

Re: 6 Toy Soldiers

Here's how to get it in two weighings: First weigh R1 B1 vs R2 G2. If they're equal, then the heavy set is either {R1 B2 G2} or {R2 B1 G1}, and simply weighing R1 vs R2 will distinguish. If the left is heavier, then we know that R1 must be heavy. We also know that G2 cannot be heavier than ...

While my searching skills may be lacking, I couldn't find this riddle anywhere on the boards. It was just presented to me in a weekly riddle-esque contest that a group at my school is running, and I found it surprisingly challenging. It is similar to many heavy/light coin and balance scale problems,...

Re: taking teenagers seriously

It seems to me that, generally, teenagers have made it to the stage in their lives where they have the basic skills required to debate topics(that is to say that they can put together a somewhat cohesive argument), but they have yet to acquire the skills that are needed to make a debate effective. T...

Same. I used a layer by layer method for slightly over a year(slightly more efficient than most because I had been working on my own algorithms, but still pretty slow), but converted to his method after reading about it.
