Re: "Google Trends" Discussion

I barely had to think about the "raptors on hoverboards" part. "Somerville... must be Randall." I think I read too much of this. If that were possible. :|

Also, sorry to nitpick, but the alt-text reads "Excerp:".

My AP Biology exam had a question that was basically "Describe the process of photosynthesis in detail." My response was to write the theme song to "Daria." If only I had the artistic chops to draw her as well... P.S. I got a 2 on the AP, surprising a grand total of zero people.

Re: William Lowell Putnam Competition

I don't remember my exact scores (I think I pulled a little over 30 for two of the three years I tried it [1997-1999], and a little over 20 for the other), but I know I finished between 200th and 500th each time. Probably my most humbling Putnam moment was when I tried a B6 problem that read somethi...

I'm loving 3, but that's probably because I've just beaten Raining Blood ( FINALLY ) and Lou on Hard (again, FINALLY ) this weekend, and haven't yet really tried Expert in earnest, because I'm working on finishing the bonus songs on Medium and Hard. I expect I'll get pissed off all over again when I...

Well, sure, but his projectiles were the weakest, if I recall correctly. He did have great jumps, though.

Snake Eyes's mobility and infinite projectiles really appealed to my favorite aspect of a game: control. I want to be able to do what I want, when I want it.

You hear a song and immediately see the Guitar Hero fret bar. Slightly related, but probably speaks to a specific kind of obsession: when you have only GH2 songs stuck in your head for three days straight. However, it's not so bad, since it's good stuff like "War Pigs" and "Tattooed ...

Does a piecewise function count?

f(n) = value of the nth digit.
x is a non-negative integer.

f(n) = 1 when 3^x <= n < 2*(3^x), and f(n) = 3 when 2*(3^x) <= n < 3^(x+1).

I heartily approve of this thread.

Also, using a simile does not actually make you that which you are comparing yourself to. This means that you cannot fly high to escape your one night stand, and besides which, birds are not intrinsically freer than any other creature.
