Re: 0883: "Pain Rating"

I was once thinking about the supposed rings of hell. Specifically, the one where you're frozen in ice, unable to move for all of eternity. I believe that's the one for non-belief. I somehow managed to grasp a small bit of what that would be like. It was one of the most horrifying experiences I've e...

For clarification, you do vote for judges in Ohio. And clearly drawings are a very different case from exploiting kids for photographs. Pity our legal system often seems to be too stupid to see that. Prosecuting someone for drawing pictures is the definition of a victimless crime.

We don't use reason just because it has worked in the past, we use it because we can't help but use it. This I think is the fundamental statement here. Our universe is built on logic and reason. The logical absolutes are the base for our entire existence. This whole plane of reality is fundamentall...

I think one problem comes with a general fear of sex causing all sexual deviations to be lumped into one grand scheme. There still exists the other problem. If a belief in god is inherently illogical, you can't both believe it and be interested in truth. If you're interested in truth, then you need to work on eliminating irrational beliefs from your thought process, since they hamper the discovery of truth. If you d...

The Non-Prophets atheist podcast did an interesting section on this.
