Re: 0894: Progeny

That's not too good of an example. The way the dice falls could be predicted 100% of the time provided I knew the air resistance, friction, power put into the die and where, surface of the table etc. Ignorance of these things means I can't predict it, but there is nothing random about how the die f...

Re: 0894: Progeny

If it wasn't logic that pushed you to the choice then what was it? what makes a dice choose one number over all the others when there's no logical reason to choose one over the other or not choose one over the other? That's not too good of an example. The way the dice falls could be predicted 100% ...

Re: 0894: Progeny

@ MagentaHawk You have human souls as an axiom, we don't. There is no logical discussion possible between us - there is no logical reason to choose Occam's Razor over nihilism, solipsism or religion as axiom. I think this just helped prove the idea that I was trying to state. You say there is no lo...

Re: 0894: Progeny

1.) What assumptions are you making about the meaning of 'privilege'? Meaning what, exactly, about a soul allows it to bestow upon us the title of "act-ors", and what other characteristics does it have that allow it to impart on us 'mind-like' qualities? In (yet) other words, you've got t...

Re: 0894: Progeny

But in the absence of souls, what do you think, above and beyond the electro-chemical reactions occurring in the human brain, gives us the capability to ascribe meanings to such things? You either need to claim that the processes occurring in the human brain are too complicated to ever be replicate...

Re: 0894: Progeny

So I know I am going to be "that guy", but the reason a computer will never match up to us is because we aren't simply computing power. I love science and mathematics, but that's not all of it. Kind of like when you read Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance and he deals with the probl...

Re: 0858: "Milk"

Why does he have to have a sexual fetish about her lactating to think about it? That did not enter my mind at all until the forums and even after reading them I am not getting that vibe at all from the comic and there is nothing to hint at it except that you need boobs to do so.

Re: 0858: "Milk"

I don't know about you guys, but I found this pretty hilarious. The alt-text was so-so, but its just showing the differences in the female and male brain and she understands that. Maybe I think it's funnier since I have been in this situation (ish). Also he might not be being creepy, just economical...
