Re: Religion: The Deuce

(A) When John says there were 2 apples, Joe says there there were 3 and Mary says there was 1 orange you've got a contradiction on your hands, this is data found in the bible all by itself. (B) Faith is the absence of reasoning. If there were actual reasons to believe a proposition then there would...

Re: Religion: The Deuce

In point of fact any number of positive changes were driven by people of faith. But not necessarily because of their faith. Societies evolve no matter what religion waves the banner, this evolution is what is to thank for our progression from a sexist slave trading society to what we are now. Scrip...

From which school of thought in evolutionary or historical linguistics are you getting this claim? Perhaps you wouldn't be surp...

Re: Religion: The Deuce

The position I was defending is that faith doesn't impair one's ability to think critically. It's a set of skills that religious people can employ as well as anyone else. It does, though. With regard to critically assessing matters of religion, your ability to think critically is compromised. While...

Re: Religion: The Deuce

Faith does not create any of those things, and faith prevents questioning certain beliefs. That is the entire definition of faith. Believing something despite not having evidence. This is again a problem with definition, it seems to be a consistent problem. It is testable, do you believe in God? Wh...

Re: What themes dominate the bulk of your dreams?

The themes tend to revolve around things ive been watching/doing the past few months. Apart from the random stuff everyone experiences. Common themes revolve around star trek/world war 2/first person shooter mashups. I have to say, taking on the Kazon with auto shotguns and MG42's around an appartme...
