Re: 1945:"Scientific Paper Graph Quality"

I can't help but notice the decrease in quality started BEFORE the powerpoint/ms-paint era.

It seems clear to me the quality decline wasn't MSFT made.

I'm a "graph quality change" denier.

Re: 1113: "Killed In Action"

I looked at some statistics from the US Bureau of Labor, apparently most desk jobs employees require more sick days than construction workers. So, the logical solution would be to put the retiring cops on a construction site. But it's not about sick days. A dead cop doesn't require any sick leave. ...

Re: 1106: "ADD"

I used to be like this, then I "grew up". Instead of balloons now I have a ladder, with each step having a one such label. Of course, the steps order is dynamically reassigned, but in order to reach the top part (where the fun is at) I must do all the bottom steps. I learned all that aroun...

Re: 1089:"Internal Monologue"

I seem to recall that Homer Simpson has internal monologues like that...

The guy in that strip seems really slow-witted if he needs vocal language to *talk* to himself.

Re: 1078: "Knights"

The Wikipedia article also says they were originally meant to be elephants. You didn't need me to Czech that for you. Right, and they were originally 2-2 movers. Although, reading it again, I see that they're still called "archers" in Russian and Turkish. I read a long time ago that in th...

Re: 1075: "Warning"

This was my dad's approach to drivers ed: "Me letting you drive is like me handing you a gun". It's certainly true, but not much for establishing confidence. I was told almost the exact same thing about puberty. Accidents with guns cause death. Accidents with puberty cause life. intention...

Re: 1029: "Drawing Stars"

Of course it's a Jewish religious symbol. And it's fine for Jews to use it. But it's one of those symbols that you really can't use as a non-Jew without very unfortunate implications. What are the implications? That you're posing as a Jew? IMO a non-jew wearing a Jewish star a connotation like an I...

Re: 891: Movie Ages

As a 16-year-old, the "Shrek" and "Finding Nemo" ones made me feel older than "Snakes on a Plane". Although I'm 16, I'm supposed to be 20, 21 and 26 according to the chart. Hooray for generation lag! Never forget about the floppies. as a 16 year old you have no right t...
