Re: Today I Made:

I probably should have used smaller pans (9x9 vs. 9x13), because I ended up with really thin pieces of fudge. I also probably should have lined the pans with wax paper or something, because the fudge was really stuck to the pan. The fudge had a much... goopier... consistency than I'm used to, so on...

Re: 1008: “Suckville”

As for art museums, the Elizabeth Stuart Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston is nice. ftfy. (Sorry, went to college in the building next door to the Gardner.) And yes, Boston is a pretty okay place once you discount the drivers, the stores that close obnoxiously early, and the winter slush cr...

Re: Strange but delicious combinations (Merged: Weird Snacks

Also not terribly unusual, but a few of my favorite slightly-off-the-beaten-path foods: 1. vanilla ice cream with maple syrup 2. scrambled eggs with maple syrup (drizzled, not drowning) 3. red jello (any flavor) or chocolate pudding with a little milk poured on top (fully-set cook & serve puddin...

Re: Books you had to read for school that you could not stan

Oh, required reading, ever painful thou art. I barely remember why any particular book was so awful; only the awfulness itself burned in my mind. Sophomore year, high school: The Red Badge of Courage , A Man for All Seasons , "The Bear" by Faulkner. I do remember hating picking through the...

Re: Healthier work lunches

Well, I wasn't expecting things that sounded quite that good for quite that cheap, but then it never really occured to me to actually cook food for taking to work. On with the home-cooked lunches! It's good to know exactly what's going into your food, and you can portion so there's little to no was...

Re: Run 10,000 miles

What do you all listen to while you run, if anything? I have discovered Radiolab. I run with my phone, so the Pandora app works for me. It's nice to be able to tailor it depending on the day - just pick an artist I want to hear, and hear a bunch of similar stuff that I probably also wouldn't mind. ...

Re: 930: Days of the Week

Come on guys, the analysis is taking the fun out of today's comic. It's supposed to be entertaining. It's a cross between data representation and something artsy and fun - and it doesn't have *all* the characteristics of either... just enjoy, and if you don't, well, not everything is for everyone. S...

Re: 0913: "Core"

Y'know, this may be the first time I've regretted deciding to become a biologist. I don't have anything to point to. Whatever I point to will be misunderstood, because you can't see the microbes and DNA and shit, now can you? See, that's what's awesome about it. Life is everywhere around us... and ...

Re: 0897: "Elevator Inspection"

A lift ("elevator") at a friends apartment building would stop if 3 or more people jumped in the air and landed at the same time while the thing was moving, allowing the occupants to force the doors open. We did this between floors and wrote our names on the between-floor concrete. I like...
