Re: What-if 0015: Mariana Trench Explosion

There's two things that I believe should have received more attention: ⋅ What is the difference between the explosion taking place on the ocean floor versus far enough above the ocean floor that only water is caught in the blast? ⋅ How will the explosion and resulting "mass ...

The sick bastard! Who would throw some seven billion people in a cage with lions?

Re: 1094: "Interview"

Thanks. I thought the Malkovich and Doctor Who references were related, so I ignored the Google results about Being John Malkovich. Guess I shouldn't have dismissed it so quickly.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Now, anyone care to explain the "Malkovich" in the comments above?

Yes, she is. Seems like Randal does not know chess very well. Or perhaps he's just getting sloppy.

Try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerning

If you're slow, Wikipedia might bring you up to speed. If you're tired, maybe it'll help you fall asleep instead. Win-win, no?

I know what bad kerning looks like, but I can never figure what good kerning looks like. It's a good thing I don't do it for a living. Edit: http://type.method.ac/ Case and point, 48/100 I've definitely had my head in DEs for too long; the first thing I thought of with this was a chain of coupled e...

Re: 0946: “Family Decals”

Why is it that people with "baby on board" signs never take them off when the baby is not actually in the car? Or rather, why is it that I see so many "baby on board" signs on cars which manifestly do not contain a baby in the passenger compartment? I hate those. Are they braggi...

Re: 0932: "CIA"

But, as an aside, I'm genuinely mystified as to how someone got into my gmail account. It could be dumb luck. I remember back when I first started trying out web-based email clients, I made an account (on Yahoo, i think) and the username I requested was unavailable, so I added some meaningless numb...

If we're talking about a denial-of-server attack, and I assume we are, it's not even that they tore down the poster, more like they got a whole bunch of people to stand in front of it so no one can see it. So basically we're talking about the digital equivalent of a sit-in. Two minutes ahead of me....

Re: 930: Days of the Week

Come on guys, the analysis is taking the fun out of today's comic. It's supposed to be entertaining. It's a cross between data representation and something artsy and fun - and it doesn't have *all* the characteristics of either... just enjoy, and if you don't, well, not everything is for everyone. ...

I've never heard of Rebecca Black but it can't be a good sign that youtube has so many parodies of her song that I can't find the original. If there even is one... Well, I can't promise that this will be helpfull (video sharing sites are blocked at the office), but this seems like it might be the o...

By the way, who here has worked with 3D printers before?

Re: Games you can't remember the title of.

⋅  Background : Some years ago my parents bought a CD with some 510 games on it. These were mostly (if not all) demos and shareware. One of these was a tetris game that, unlike regular tetris, produced shapes consisting of blocks of different colours. The objective was to place a certain ...
