Plants can graft themselves in nature?

I never heard of anything like that happening, so I was obviously surprised to see this. http://i40.tinypic.com/feq8g5.jpg It was a tree that my grandfather cut down. He said he'd never seen that happen before either. Anyone know if this is actually common in nature? Or if its such a trivial thing n...

I don't think I've ran into any REAL bullies before. I've always been able to (eventually) see the better sides of people who act like assholes at me. the probability of an event that would produce a non-self-consistent paradox is zero. Say you go back in time to shoot your grandfather. I am a good driver. No really, I am. If you are between the age where you are legally allowed to possess a driving license and the age of.. oh, roughly 20 - you're a poor driver. It has nothing to do with how it is that you're driving in your average day-to-day life, and a whole lot to do with lack ...

Yeh, the speed of light in a vacuum (read as 'in space') is indeed a constant of almost 3X10^8 m/s, regardless of a reference point. It does slow down and can be bent in denser materials though. After it leaves the material it speeds up again. You can get some really dense materials that slow it do...

My school had a similar policy. If you are involved in a fight in anyway, even trying to break one up, you will be suspended. There was one case when a guy beat the shit out of this weird kid. The weird kid didn't even touch the other guy and just balled up on the floor. They both got 10 days OSS to...

Dermatologist didn't help me at all for 3 years. I stopped going and decided to do my own thing. It has actually worked very well.

Wash face 2-3 times a day with regular DIAL soap.
Put on benzoyl peroxide 10% cream at least once a day, and plenty of it.

On somewhat of a side note, how much did it cost the mint to make all of the state quarters? To me it seems like they're making a lot of noise about the cost of pennies, and at the same time making worthless designs for quarters.

Let's say your idea happened. How many people could they possibly send to another colony? A few hundred million already seems like a huge number. That figure would make a small dent in Earth's population, and it would be rapidly filled up again.

Think about the old days: you have two cavemen. One goes out and spends all day killing all the animals he sees. The other one kills a couple birds, enough for the day. Assume the energy expended to kill an animal is about equal to what you get from it. The second caveman is right back where he sta...
