Re: Any here also on en.wiki?

I edit under a different username (Philomid most places, but Leonard^Bloom on all wikis), which is funny because Leonard^Bloom, is a typo. It was supposed to be Leopold^Bloom (a character from Ulysses) but, I messed up and didn't notice.

I would've thought more people here edit there.

Any here also on en.wiki?

Is anyone here an active editor on Wikipedia, any language? I'm just wondering if there is any overlap between these two communities. (~~~~)

For one thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpretations_of_2001:_A_Space_Odyssey . (If you haven't already seen it.) I think the phallic and sperm symbolism was quite overt. Also it seems to present a cyclical view of evolution, both in the microcosm and the macrocosm. I was blown a...

Re: Made-Up Slang

Any faux slang my friends and I come up with is usually stuff like this:

"That combo was pretty tastictasm"

We just combine random endings.

"That was pretty ishesque"

Most of our linguistic concoctions come to life when we play SSBM.

Is it QUXGA? It refers to some sort of video adapter, but I'm unsure if it's an acronym or not.

If it is correct: "crw"

If it is not correct: :( I have no idea.

2001: A Space Odyssey

This film is my absolute favorite movie of all time. There is not going to be any change to this. The purpose of this thread is symbolism in the film. Discuss? Animorphs series, by K.A. Applegate. (Although this one might just be due to the many fond memories I had of reading Animorphs back in the 90's/early 2000's, when I was like...8 years old.) I recommend listening to an opera version of a story you...

Re: Classical Music Dying?

I like these responses. Another question. Is classical music primarily an upper-middle / upper class pleasure? It used to be; to say it is now is to assume that we still have a strict social caste system. I enjoy classical music, and I certainly am not upper-class. **picks nose and spits on floor**

Re: Classical Music Dying?

It depends what you mean by classical music as a genre. Instrumental music? No, there's plenty of that being produced. Compositional music is still alive and strong, even if it isn't necessarily in the mainstream (and some is, like film scores). See the Tzadik label for some examples. I just saw a ...

Gold/Silver were (IMO) easily the best. 1) New and old pokemon. 2) Better (and more balanced) PokeTypes. 3) HUGE MAP. 4) You get to re-face the old Gym Leaders, so if you had memories about those Leaders, it was like nostalgia with a twist 5) The plot line was a little more interesting. 6) The repla...

Okay, well let us ignore my mistake. Also, even if Alice Cooper created Shock Rock, he was no where near as obscene and controversial as Manson.

Brian Hugh Warner (Marilyn Manson)

Personally, I think he is one of the greatest artists the U.S. has seen in a while. He had the brains to go places with his music, he had the money to pay for those brains, yet he decided to present America with a new genre, Shock Rock. It seems that his new genre was expressive of the views of the ...

Is this going from "How the RIAA could save itself" to "Which is better: Vinyl or CD?"? Because both are totally cool with me. I don't know a lot about the technical recording processes that are involved in both items, but I do know that that although vinyl is 'warmer' and audibl...
