Re: SWEET BILE OF BELIAL, NEW FUTURAMA EPISODES

Yes, I know about the movies, and you know about the movies, but this person didn't seem to: YES! That's so awesome to hear! I agree though, the final episode did have a very FINAL thing about it, I mean, continuing the storyline is a risk: If it's not awesome then it feels like the franchise is rui...

Re: SWEET BILE OF BELIAL, NEW FUTURAMA EPISODES

Bad news everyone! The movies are a continuation of the episodes. Where the episodes finished, the movies took off, so you need not worry about them screwing up and ruining it (especially since the movies were so awesome). To those not in the know, there are 4 movies, which have been broken up into ...

Open Lecture by Richard Stallman

QUESTION: (In the form of a paragraph...) Richard Stallman is giving an open lecture at my Uni next week on Copyright vs. Community. I'm doing CS, but I'm actually a Physics major, and I have no idea who Stallman is. (Sorry if this is blasphemy or something). I DO, however, remember him getting a ka...

Re: Shift Happens

I think the problem with AI is that it's just that. Its artificial. Is it possible to say that a computer, which is essentially just following an albeit very complex program, can actually have conscious thought? The difference between any attempt at AI to date, and in fact any other living thing on ...

I disagree. I wrote an essay on literature with open/unhappy endings, and found a lot of examples. Ever seen A History of Violence? Great movie. Open ended.

Re: "Flies" Discussion

I just realized, of course a watched pot would never boil. I don't know - a sufficiently long-lived pot might someday boil - for instance, when the sun goes super-nova... Who needs a supernova? Just heat a pot to 2861 °C* and it will boil. That kind of temperature is easily attainable without waiti...

Re: "Flies" Discussion

According to my TV guide, last week MythBusters did "A rolling stone gathers no moss"... unfortunately I missed the episode, but it sounds like an interesting experiment... Note: this is Australian TV... that episode probably aired, like, a year ago in the States... and that's if it's not...

Re: "Flies" Discussion

Isn't the pot boiling one just an extension of Einstein's relativity? As he put it: "When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity." If you sit just watching a pot waiting...
