I'm another one for Mostly Harmless. I've tried 3 times but I just can't do it.

I also stopped partway into Ship of Dreams by Robin Hobb. I don't know why. I just put it down and didn't feel like picking it up again. And then a month passed, so I decided to move on.

There's a marine biologist I know who, as a grad student, was sent by his supervisor to buy a store's entire supply of ky jelly. There was a legitimate, non-sexual reason, but I don't really feel like elaborating.

I know it's not my place to say, but I REALLY recommend promoting some of the mods to admin status so they can do stuff like banning IPs and email addresses. At least temporarily.

I know it's not anything mods can do, but rather than requiring admin activation, a forum I use has added a textual confirmation question to the registration. Something like "What colour is the sky?" It really cut down on the bots. We used to get way more bots registering than actual users...

I got a 365-day calendar of vanishing vocabulary. Today's word is ahoight which means elevated or in good spirits.
