Re: The most beautiful animation you've ever seen?

Macross: Do You Remember Love remains one of the most gorgeous hand animated films ever. Sleeping Beauty is probably the most gorgeous of all the Disney movies -- the follow-up movie was 101 Dalmations because the financial failure of Sleeping Beauty made Disney cut the animation budgets -- hence wh...

from time to time i find myself re-reading a haruki murakami book. i've re-read norwegian wood, sputnik sweetheart and hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world. different times in my life have made those books more impacting than when i first read them. another one i've read more than once is...

I was going to make a thread this morning but didn't get around to it. Anyway, I saw it last night as well. There were a few parts I didn't like, some parts I loved, and overall I think it's a welcome breath of fresh air for the franchise. I hope they end up doing a TV series with this cast, but it...

i don't see how or why this is an issue. you can buy songs from amazon drm free. just buy the fucking song. if you don't feel like buying it, don't fucking download a copy that is obviously not legit. crime. pay fine. get the fuck over it.

The primary problem of what you're saying (it doesn't matter what, just eat less) is that it's just plain wrong. I promise you that if you and I both eat 2,000 calories a day and don't exercise, and mine is beans, rice, veggies, and soy proteins, and yours 100% fried meat and beer, I will be health...

The study is based on a series flawed premises: 1. The study only observed the obese. 2. The study included multiple variables - diet and exercise. 3. The study included no control group. The participants could have easily lost the weight - an average of 10lbs total weight loss over two years (!) -...

Well, that's somewhat disingenuous. Some foods are very high-calorie-low-nutrient, and you need a certain (fairly broad) ratio of protein:carbs:fats to function properly. Eating 2 lbs of celery a day, for instance, won't make you gain any weight at all. did you miss part of the article where the sc...

Pull-ups are HARD exercises, and get harder the bigger you are. As a 6'1", 190-lb person, which would not be atypical for the army, that's a lot of weight to move. it's called keeping your body in proportionate shape, dammit. not hard. if you are that tall with that weight and in shape, you sh...

alain de botton's two books i enjoyed were: how proust can change your life and kiss & tell. they're books mostly about perception in some of the most subtle hurmor out there as well as some blatantly laugh out loud moments. i'd give both a chance as they both have heavy references to proust.
