Re: [SAFESPACE] Woman Thread - All Things Women. Period.

I'm the only girl in most of my science classes, I like it really well. Honestly I forget about the whole "Girls vs. Boys" thing and just do my work. However, I teased the 4 guys in my Astronomy class that I would never have to carry around the telescopes. Then our professor told us about ...

1 University scholarship, 2 college scholarships.

When I started they covered all of my tuition, fees, and room and board. Now they barely cover that (thanks fee increase) but I still make several thousand every year so what am I complaining for.

I'll definitely take my BF's last name when we get married. My maiden name is pretty common and so is his so I might as well just change it. Plus my first name and his last name would make me sound really really Irish.

Yeah, this can be a tricky thing and usually I just play along. When I'm at my parents' house, we sleep in different rooms, but his parents are completely fine with it so we sleep in the same bed at their house. For me, it's helpful that if my parents decided to not pay for anything anymore, I coul...

How much control do they have over your financial life? If the answer is little to none, tell them. If they can give you grief as far as tuition or housing is concerned, pretend away. Your parents may be ok with the charade, as it lets them feel virtuous, while knowing that you are careful enough t...

I have 13 hours left in my ME, I've interned with 2 very large and very different companies. The first one was cool because they were a smaller group within the big corporate sphere, but I hated all of the corporate people. IMO, the only people enjoyable to be around were the engineers, techs, and t...

Yeah, I don't know most of these equations you all are talking about, especially the Physics equations, and I'm about to graduate with an engineering degree. And if you want to go to medical school, why are you majoring in physics? I don't mean to criticize at all, but if you plan on going to medical school you should think your major choice through. Most of those classes in college will require you to do Cal I,II,III, and ODE by hand (at least mine did). However, the TI-89 was great for checking my answers of integrals and such. To be honest, I use MathCAD on my desktop at home and it's a lot easier to figure out than the TI-89. You might look ...

If you really think you're going to grad school, I wouldn't worry so much about the rankings of one versus the others. What you can quantify is that cost, and if they're going to lop off a large sum of their tuition and fees, it's probably worth it to go there. You parents will save money, you won't...

I wouldn't waste my time taking Gen Chem I at my university. Take it over a summer school session at a community college, maybe right after your freshman year (when you won't have many options with internships), and save the space in your university schedule.

If you want to do them both, go for it. If all else fails, you can drop one of the majors. I'd recommend sticking with the mechanical though, it's just more practical and gives you the technical background you need to go into other fields (such as aerospace).
