Web filter issues with Mozilla Firefox

So recently at my school, they've been making some changes to the computer system. Not sure why or what they did exactly, but it's gotten irritating. My school uses some sort of web filter (I don't know the name, it's something Japanese so I can't read it nor a lot of the things on the computer. Net...

Re: Cut in their prime

Fourthing (?) Arrested Development. Why did no one watch this show?! It seems like everyone who has seen this show liked it! Sure it ran for three seasons, but the third was cut short and the actors wanted to keep going... Still keeping up hope for a comeback or a movie... Please? Also, the live act...

Re: The Pillows

The FLCL soundtrack is definetly a a "best of album" but they've been around forever and have so many albums beyond FLCL... Their newest album Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! IMO is excellent. Catchiest song probably being Scarecrow off of that album. Comparing their old music to their new stuf...

Re: Subtitling vs. dubbing

I cannot stand dubbing. I feel it usually butchers the intended dialog and often mistranslates, which can completely change a movie/anime/what-have-you. There are some good voice actors for dubbing out there (FLCL), but I always feel like I'm missing out on the actual meaning. It's like I only get h...

Re: Applications 2008

Waiting to hear back from University of Washington: Seattle. Worried because while I did awesome on my ACTs, I was a very mediocre high school student. Despite meeting the priority deadline back in October, I still don't find out till April sometime, theoretically. I really hope I find out sooner, s...

Re: The Best Rhythm Game Ever

Licensing, maybe? Either way it's really not like it'd be hard to take one of the existing Beatmania IIDX mixes from Japan and change the "For Sale in Japan Only" to "For Sale in North America Only". Voila, you have a game for the American market. There's almost no translating to...

Re: Anime!

Hmmm.... how about... Chrno Crusade or Scrapped Princess? I've seen Scrapped Princess. I liked it. I didn't think it was particularly special, but it wasn't bad. I will watch almost anything. And I am a GAINAX slave. FLCL is my favorite anime because every single time I watch it I get something new...

Re: 日本語 (Japanese Practice)

I desperately need to study kanji and widen my vocabulary. If you have a photo-capable iPod, go here: http://www.kanjionapod.com/ Or, if you have a mobile phone that can run it (supported phones in the link), go here: http://www.getjar.com/products/7555/KanjiRecallFirstGrade Granted, they aren't th...

Re: Techno/Trance

My favorites when it comes to the general electronic music genre (I'm not going to try and classify each into sub-genres, that's a bit over my head admittedly) Seconding Armin Van Buuren, Astral Projection, Sasha, and DJ Tiesto. Add N to (X) - Loud Like Nature Album Akira Yamaoka- iFuturelist, Injec...

Re: Favorite Band that no one has heard of!

Well, reading over this thread, a lot of the bands I was going to say have ironically already been mentioned. XD; Xiu Xiu was mentioned, coming out with a new album (!!!) saw them live in Minneapolis, second best concert ever As was Of Montreal, also should be coming out with a new album, saw them l...

えと。。。 Um...I have been studying Japanese for about four months. Re: Interesting D&D Stories

Yeah, critical hit tables make for some really uneven gameplay. In a campaign a while back, the DM had found such a table online and decided to use it for the new campaign we were starting. So when the chance came to finally use it, the situation was as such: We had stumbled into a storeroom with th...

Hum, excluding text-books. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Bold as Love The Female Man Left Hand of Darkness The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul Thus Spoke Zarathustra I am rereading Thus Spoke Zarathrustra at the moment! One of Nietzsche's best works, I think. I just bought Dreamsongs, a massiv...

Re: The Best Rhythm Game Ever

Ooh, that's too many good games to really choose one absolute favorite. I voted Guitar Freaks because it's really the only rhythm game I feel completely bad-ass playing and has a better song selection than Guitar Hero. Other rhythm games I just feel nerdy and flail-ly. Also, it somehow manages to be...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hiya, I am Rachel, a 18 year old female from Minnesota, USA. I am currently living in Japan as an exchange student in the Tochigi area. I attend an all Girls' High School (GASP), which is actually a lot less exciting and sexy than anime and hentai would have you believe. I already graduated high sch...
