Re: XKCD april fools

I (like many others probably have) decided to try out Adventure-style commands in the console, see if there were any little snippets... I was almost disappointed, but I was so thrilled to get this result: guest@xkcd:/$ xyzzy Nothing happens. EDIT: Okay, so, apparently I was mistaken. My 'north', 'so...

Re: "Correlation" Discussion

Here's another interesting correlation/causation note I've been hearing. You know those earthquakes and Tsunamis that happened in the last week? There are people crying out that it's because of global warming.
Uuummmmmm yeah.

Re: "Free" Discussion

In Australia at least there are annoying claims like "97%" fat-free, as though all the fat is in just 3% of the product. Usually the fat is distributed throughout the whole damn thing - *none* of it is "fat free". Also, some chips claim "50% less fat than those cooked in pa...

Re: "Collecting Double-Takes" Discussion

Not my story at all, but it's one I read a while back and I still love it. I'll briefly summarise it. A guy was out late at night and remembered he had to buy a present for his nephew's birthday the next day, so he went to a store and got some toy - can't remember what, but doesn't matter. While wal...

You know what, just get Mythbusters to build it and try it, I'm sure they'd be all for that.
That's what I was thinking the whole time while reading this thread, I'd love to have the Mythbusters try it out!

I had to open MSW to get it properly, but since my brother is a typeface geek I did get it. When my firm shifted its "use this font as standard" from Times New Roman 12 to Arial 11 it took a long time to get used to it. Now, though, I just think TNR looks old-fashioned, and Arial looks so...

I've keyed more than one car that was blatantly parked across multiple spaces. Of course, only cars that are CLEARLY intentionally parked that way. (IE: Not just slightly over the line or crowding one side, but WAY over the line with 1/2 the car in one spot and 1/2 the car in another. I'm also much...

I'm going to print copies of this comic and start leaving them on windshields Man, I'm so tempted to do that... I think I might just do that. With a little note on the bottom saying "Take note, Douchebag" or such. I'll have a nice little pile of the notes sitting in my glovebox for every ...

Been said many times, but who the hell would say "Damnit"? It's just wrong. Wrong. Looks terrible. Sure, it seems like it should be, since it's a merging of "damn" and "it", but heck damn, it's dammit dammit!

My dreams about these things are usually a little different. Back when I was in school, I'd normally get them during the holidays, and for some reason even though it was holidays we were still required to attend class, and the holidays had been canceled or something... I don't think I've had many of...

Who is your new ISP? I'm with Telstra, I hate it. I would upload more but I don't want to screw myself out of fast internets... Btw, thepokerbay.org is the best torrent site :) That's exactly how I felt... Though, I could barely consider Telstra "fast". 600-800kb/s for cable :( I get 1.2m...

Re: "Pirate Bay" Discussion

On my old ISP, I couldn't really seed much (Telstra counts anything you upload towards your total bandwidth usage... and gives you minimum bandwidth in the first place). So the rare times I was able to download a torrent, my ratios were usually around 0.5, max. However with my new ISP, I can upload ...

The alt-text "How could you possibly think typing 'import skynet' was a good idea?" made this comic for me :D
The concept just has me giggling like a little kid on the inside, while maintaining a manly grin on the outside.

I also loved the lightsaber wielding raptors
