Re: 1190: "Time"

I wonder if it'll be a looping comic, with the theme being that with the passage of time, humans build vast, intricate empires, but in the end, nature ultimately reclaims what once was. But so long as we occupy the planet, the cycle will continue...

Re: 1075: "Warning"

If you think about breathing, you'll notice it and start worrying about it. If you think about your back, as many workplace HR presentations make you do, you'll start thinking your back is messed up. If you think existentially, you start to question your existence. If you think about your heart, you...

I'd start a club for us turtles, but I'm about seventy years too late.
Cats may have things more figured out than turtles. They enslaved the human race millennia ago...

Re: 1050: "Forgot Algebra"

It's part of general American anti-intellectualism to be proud of inability to think. Inability to think and irrelevant subjects are two different things. The sum of all human knowledge and creativity is so great that a million people, splitting it amongst themselves, couldn't possibly take it all ...

Re: 0889: "Turtles"

Sorry for the thread bump, but I've made this my credo [and avatar] and here's why. I think Randall was just juxtaposing the complexity of the human condition and the simplicity of the turtle's condition, because we humans brought most of that complexity upon ourselves. We delude ourselves into thin...

Re: 1050: "Forgot Algebra"

I'm going to dissent, and I like math. I feel that we're going the wrong way with education, trying to make everyone jacks of all trades. Except: that really isn't what we're doing. Rather, we're doing the opposite (been doing it for quite some time), and it shows. How is this not what we're doing?...

Re: 1050: "Forgot Algebra"

I'm going to dissent, and I like math. I feel that we're going the wrong way with education, trying to make everyone jacks of all trades. I happen to be good at math. I find history compelling even though school made it a chore. I'm not big into languages but I'll eventually need to master a second ...

Re: 0947: “Investing”

I've gotten into this argument many times with family members that insist on playing the lottery (The state tax on people who are bad at math). For many, lottery is the only chance they'll ever be truly rich. [...] To ignore both the "fun factor" of gambling and the dream of one day to be...

Re: 0946: “Family Decals”

Title: “My decal set has no adults, just a sea of hundreds of the little girl figures closing in around a single cat.” Mine would be hundreds of cat figures surrounding me. ;) Though seriously, they're all over northern California as well. I've also seen a few parody versions...with aliens, robots,...
