Re: Freelance coding: what should I expect?

I think you are missing some business analysis and estimation skills. What that boils down to are detailed specifications of work, risk analysis of how complete the specification is and an accurate estimation of your time for a job. You can either charge by the day/hour regardless of the specificati...

Re: Whats the point of query builders in scripting languages

In the case of Yii and many other builders, it also lets you build up a query piecewise without having to worry about getting all the SQL syntax in exactly the right order. You can set the FROM before the SELECT, if that's simpler for your app's structure. Simply manipulating strings would allow yo...

Whats the point of query builders in scripting languages

Hi there, I'm working on a new system and one of the coding guidelines is to use the Yii query builder (the project is PHP and MySQL). I'm not a fan of this as I don't see any advantages to using a query builder when you already have to know SQL to a high level to work on the project. For me it's si...

If it was me I would go with emotion. If your actually a talented and hardworking person it's not going to make a damn bit of difference where you go to school. I'm thinking about building a silent media pc, it's going to run linux and I need it to be powerful enough to be able to program on (easily) as well as mine bitcoins or other GPU intensive tasks and I'll probably throw in a fairly decent sound card because I'm really into sound and music. You could try running from a live cd distribution for a couple of days, if you don't already have a preference then I recommend checking out slax. Just to repeat phlip, you don't need sprintf. I would recommend using a framework with PHP if you have more than one form to process, it will makes things like sharing config easy and make it easier to generate forms, validate input etc.

Re: Django ModelForm introspection

Apparent the django developers don't want a as_div in the code base as they want to reduce html in the code base. A ludicrous idea IMHO as li and table is a far more specific html than divs but I digress. Essentially I want to write a script to generate the DIV html from ModelForms.

Well firstly, imports don't effect the amount that bees pollenate. Secondly not all bee's are kept, without some more figures you can't draw accurate conclusions about bee keeping and plant pollination.

Before I accept that bee keepers and their location increases farm productivity I'd want to see studies proving this is the case.
