Re: Instruments you wish you played

The Hang Drum. It's like a neat variation on the steel drum with a lot of different little articulations you can get. Youtube it and you'll see some folks that do a lot of impressive stuff with them.

That's my vote ;)

I'm still in!!! I've just been horribly busy. I'll take a whack at Icelizard's song file tonight and see what I can come up with, then repost. What about IRC chat? There's already a good server set up for #XKCD chat and it's a pretty universal format. Timing would be weird of course. But times/dates...

Page had something that EVH didn't. Not that EVH wasn't a technically superior player...I think he was. But I always FELT more when Page played. I can't really explain it any other way. Another addition: "Harlem Nocturne" originally written by Earle Hagen in 1939 and covered by many hundre...

Shocking omission so far:

Anything done by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

But specifically "Tin Pan Alley". It's the most perfect guitar solo ever, and it's most of the song.

A close second would be "Lenny".

Fair point...TSO isn't particularly "interesting". They're just great entertainers. In that case I'd have to say that it's a tie between the Blue Man Group and Circue De Soliel's "Zumanity" Blue Man Group I've seen about 5 times and it doesn't get old. And Zumanity was (for a str...

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra...timely as well this being the holiday season and all. Without a doubt the most entertaining performance I've witnessed. It's more like a play than a concert because of the interspersed narration that goes along with the music. And oddly, the music is decidedly pulled r...

Try! and Continuum this is not... He's got very few guitar solos in the album and has very much reverted back to the Wonderland thing. I agree that his "heartbreak" songs are getting a bit tired. I think he hit his love-theme peak with Continuum and frankly needs to find a new muse. I wil...

The Lag Calibration screen is great for having the game engine compensate for lag; that's what it's designed to do, and it does it very well. The signal takes a certain amount of time to get from the drum pad to the game, and if the game knows that interval, it can account for it when it judges you...
