Re: Good Backpacks

I find any backpack with rockets and/or jets in it satisfies my needs. For carrying my books I use a shoulder bag - usually something I've gotten free at a trade show.

Re: Anyone else fail the Turing Test?

I particularly like the ones on bit-tech. They ask simple questions as well as giving you a stupid half obscured alpha-numeric sequence, but the questions are fun. For example: How many eyes does a cat have? An average car has how many wheels? What is the name of earths nearest star? How many legs d...

Re: The future of parallel processing and remote data storage

Still, I don't much like the idea of someone having constant access to all my data. I addressed this issue in my previous post, as did socynicalsohip in the following post. You did, however I wasn't really refering to a specific person - more an entity. You're trusting someone else with keeping you...

Re: What's good reading for a budding evil genius?

I have book called "How to survive a robot uprising," so that might give you pointers. I think I have one specifically on being an evil genius but I haven't seen it in a while - it may have been absorbed into my lesser-read section. I've got one on Tesla called "The man who invented t...

Re: The most terrifying use of snow EVER.

You guys are so lucky. The only chance we got snow in Brisbane (the Australian Brisbane, not the other one) is if we have freak hail storms. It happens once every few years or so - the last one we had swept through the suburb next to mine, but didn't touch me at all.

Re: The future of parallel processing and remote data storage

The scary thing is, this sort of technology exists - it's just not in widespread usage. A couple of examples are the Zonbu network computer, or the OS-in-a-browser, such as eyeOS. These days the limiting factor isn't even a display, with technologies such as VNC allowing us to send a compressed disp...

Re: 1 question randomness test!

I also didn't read the question, yet voted for oranges. It seemed like the best answer to any possible question. On a side note I used to love Invader Zim, but I haven't had a chance to watch it in donkey's years. I guess now I'll never be able to watch it without thinking of a penguin of doom. Stil...

Re: EBKAC - no next instruction.

I felt like you a little while ago. I've dabbled in a large number of languages but I wouldn't call myself a master at any of them. What got me going again was a short segment in digital design as part of one of my computer courses. Since then, I've started sketching ALU and CPU designs, learning ma...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi everyone. I'm Tom, and to be honest I've been afraid of joining the forums here because the comics are always so witty - I feel a little stupid in comparison. Finally convinced to join by the nice people over at AtomicMPC. I think I found my dream girl wearing a "No Raptors" shirt, and ...
