Dynamics question

Hey there, I've found this question in a high school physics book. There are two blocks (as shown on the picture) with masses of, respectively, 16kg and 88kg. They are not connected to each other. The coefficient of friction between the blocks is 0.38, and the bigger block can move on the ground sur...

Re: Other Languages You've Studied

darktalon, any particular reason why you picked up Polish? I mean, other than the fact that half of our population migrated to the UK. It's quite a difficult language, and the number of people speaking it compared to e.g. German, Spanish or even French languages is tiny.

Re: Official XKCD Project - Epic Rickroll

Rick rolling someone from the UK would make the whole event a lot cheaper, if Astley actually lives in London. And he'd sooner agree to singing not far away from his house. Well... know anybody interwebnationally famous who lives in the United Kingdom? Clarkson would be a great target. And he surely...

Re: Quick question about flying into the USA

regua, no I'm not sure but please define "our official numbers". I don't have enough investment in the argument to Google since I must be working. As I said, I just wanted to throw it into the mix. I did not think that EU migration counted as being considered a new citizen since you keep ...

You sure? The number of Poles that emigrated to the UK is taken into consideration in our official numbers (by the way, that's a LOT).

xkcd gaming night on XBL

Looking at the game IDs thread, I've noticed that a lot of people around here actually have Xbox Live.

Let's organise a gaming night, perhaps on Friday or during the weekend.

What say you?

Re: Quick question about flying into the USA

The persistence of the US government in such highly thorough customs control and all these regulations, combined with the fact that 99% of the US population are actually immigrants is quite paradoxical. Well.. no, that's not accurate. It's more accurate to say that 99% of the population of the US a...

Could you please be more specific? Can you point on this graph: http://xkcd.com/388/ to where you think the mangoes should be?

Here you go: fuck grapefruit v2.0. With mangos.

Re: Grub problems

Try getting the contents of your /boot/grub/menu.lst file using the Live CD, and post them here.

Have you tried this solution? It looks ridiculously stupid, but it worked for that guy, so you might give it a try.

Also, try running e2fsck. It's the command that solves all problems.

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi there, I'm regua (/rɛguwa/). I'm from Poland and don't particularly enjoy living in this country. The comic has always amazed and attracted me, I have been reading it for a long time but never got round to registering on the forums. I like the community and hope to spend some time here. I am curr...
