Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts
I was thinking Orion Prelude. Though there's no dinosaur riding with lasers and shields, it's sci fi lasers and jetpacks fighting dinosaurs. Not to understate the downgrade but it's probably the closest thing. Wave survival Halo versus dinosaurs. I found it boring. I've been meaning to mention that ...

Are they getting anything accomplished at these briefings? Is there a point to press briefings when there is no cooperation and blatant lies? I don't mind if they don't go if they deem it. I have to imagine journalism right now is like the gold rush, and these particular hills might be all but tappe...

Re: Trump presidency
Members of the Press keep talking about not showing up to Presidential briefings, but I think they ought to do the opposite. I think they should all show up, and proceed to politely break the rules until they're all kicked out. I think this is an awful idea given the circumstances of the propaganda...

For one, I think Kanye kind of admits fault over that incident... As much as he could bring himself to. I doubt he would be half as concerned with the president calling him a jerk as much as the uglier things all his peers were saying. For another, It's not surprising that Kanye would be pro-trump g...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts
I'd say that building roads in general is a strategic decision. Having a road wind left or right around a particular tile vs driving through, and the exact distance from the mountain to the road is the tactical part of it. The topology of the map (such as mountains and open fields and the existence...

I think you misunderstood me a little in the second quote, but I'd rather go past that and ask a few questions. Would building roads be a strategic or tactical decision in your example of defending a rush? Also, if you happen to be next to a convenient mountain range that does provide a choke, and w...

MLM schemes and cults and narcissists all pull from the same set of tools as the president, the GOP, and right wing media. You don't have to be afraid whether or not they will listen, because they won't. You can sometimes deprogram certain individuals after hours of conversation, but you can't get t...

There's not a lot for me to engage with given that in a few brief paragraphs you went from strategic depth being unique and incomparable, to the rules of strategy being universal (implying comparability?). In a way I can agree with both of these statements but I must admit and state that I have to c...

There are no rules imposed on Megaman's world that suggest he should take fall damage. You can look at it as a power due to an unexpected lack of consequence, or recognize that your expectations have been subverted and that it is not a game rule. Falling long distances without damage allows for game...

It strikes me that, while you're saying "strategy", what you're actually talking about is tactics. Deciding to go all in on blocking/guarding the ramp rather than diverting some of your forces to guard against flanking air units is a strategic decision, but the individual positioning deci...

Witcher 3's late game is all about stacking bonuses so that you can continue to one-shot things or otherwise kill very rapidly. That's how you tackle death march. The general skill of players related to their league has fluctuated a lot over SC2's life, and it's mainly due to changes directly by Blizzard. There's a process, it just costs more money than the pension is worth and has no guarantee of success. There's not a lot of legal precedent about flagrant abuse of presidential power, because usually it would cause issues even with their own party. The Star Wars Battlefront reboot releases in 2015 as a success despite a significant portion of gamers feeling it was a barebones release specifically due to the lack of a campaign. I don't think SOMA really followed through too well either, as the dialogue never really advances the themes so much as it's just about a clueless person who is reacting to them. It's a more traditional game with enemies and an endless quest of fixing the station, and while it's probably the weakest...
