Re: 1877: "Eclipse Science"

I have a lot of respect for those people who can say, "Eh, I know others will photograph it better than I can, so I'm not going to try." It's a very rational, logical argument. ... and yet ... I have to try . I've got 2 video cameras and one still camera all set up to try to record the mo...

Re: 1418: "Horse"

It kinda turns Star Wars into a Western... The Horse is what gives a Jedi his power. You must learn the ways of the Horse, if you're to come with me to Alderaan. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the horse. A tremor in the Horse. The last time I felt it was in the...

Reminded me of a quote from Feynman... "You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird. Let's look at the bird and see what it's doing -- that's what counts. I learned very early the difference ...

Re: 1292: Pi vs. Tau

I have no dog in this fight except to say that, as an electrical engineer who deals with 2pi on an almost daily basis, pick a consistent system and stick with it. Either use tau and continue measuring angles based on radii (radians) or use pi and measure angles based on diameter. Dadians? But mixing...

It's very avant-garde. XKCD has finally escaped the constraints of its medium. 954: Man in hat jams top of escalator with chin-up bar.

Then I highly recommend the novel 'Replay' by Ken Grimmwood: The novel tells of a 43-year-old man who dies and awakens back in 1963 in his 18-year-old body. He then begins to relive his life with intact memories of the previous 25 years. This h...
