Re: "Collecting Double-Takes" Discussion

I'm too lazy to read the entire length of this discussion, so I hope no one suggested this before me. I say, get the KY jelly and a cucumber. But when you get home, open the box the KY came in, squeeze a little bit out of the tube, then put the tube back in the box, making no attempt to hide the fac...

Re: "Space Elevators" Discussion

Speaking of Calvin and Hobbes, just thought I would share this wonderful, wonderful website.

http://www.marcellosendos.ch/comics/ch/index.html

But only visit it if you want to read every Calvin and Hobbes cartoon in order of publication.

I would say the character Pink Floyd from The Wall. Hell of a trip he takes through life.

Re: Should America retire the Penny? (Also, let's compare money)

I apologize if someone already suggested this earlier on this board, but I don't have the time (read: I'm too frakkin' lazy) to read all the posts. My idea has always been to get rid of the penny and always round up to the nearest nickel. (if the total ends up divisible by 5, there is no rounded amo...

Re: "Geohashing" discussion

At first, it seemed like a cool, benign idea. The concept was quite simple: take the date, add the previous DOW opening, hash it, then convert to geographical coordinates. A secret way to meet up over the weekends, in places only you would know about. Time dragged on, and every so often people woul...

Re: "Geohashing" discussion

I would assume the answer is no, but is there any bias to the algorithm? For example, if the stock market number is between 12,500 and 12,600, it will always be in the northeast part of the graticule, 12-600-12,700 the southwest part, etc., or is it completely randomized where a change of a hundredt...

Re: Greatest Movie Ever?

Re: "Stove Ownership" Discussion

I ate turkey bacon for years thinking the exact same thing but than i had real bacon again the thick slice kind and the turkey bacon doesn't even come close to its true bacony goodness so i feel bad for you. You're probably right. But I'm afraid to go back to the real stuff, because I'd eat so much...

I have spent my 28 years on this earth trying to figure out Step 6. Alas, the great bacon mystery remains.

Re: "Stove Ownership" Discussion

Microwave bacon is as good as stove bacon, and faster. :) Don't listen to this wackaloon. Microwaving bacon is a travesty, and a sham, and a mockery. Its a travashamockery. By the way, for those health nuts out there, I have found that Turkey Bacon, fried on the stove like regular bacon, tastes jus...

Yeah, I agree. One of the best things about this comic is I get a little ego boost when Randall makes a real nerdy-sciency-mathmaticky joke and I actually understand it. But this...

Combining Mario Kart and Calvin and Hobbes, and on a Friday no less?? I'm not sure what we've done to deserve this wonderful blessing, but we'll take it. I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this weekend.
