Re: The Xkcd Cookbook (with an unfinished index in the OP)

This dip is... Not healthy, I don't think. But it is absurdly easy, and can be a meal (or is that just for us college students?) or an appetizer or what have you. Stolen mostly from my brother, who stole it from someone else. So feel free to steal-and-not-tell, it's kinda tradition. Anyways, on to t...

Burning a DVD, but putting captions (of a sort) onto it...?

I was wondering if there's a program (preferably free) with which I can insert caption boxes of some sort into/on top of the movie? I doubt that that's very intelligible or understandable... What I'd like to do is burn a copy of Zombieland, but then also insert quotes from The Zombie Survival Guide ...

Re: favorite lines/quotes from books

Just stumbled across this thread (apologies for the necro) and wanted to post the link to my site of quotes. I usually keep a little Moleskine book full of any quotes I like, and decided yesterday (after thinking I had lost it during the move from college back home) to put them all online. Granted, ...

Blu-ray players

Hi, I'm looking at buying a Blu-ray Player. We just bought a new HD TV (Samsung LN52A 650A1F), and are going to upgrade to a blu-ray player as well. I was wondering what the pros/cons/comparisons were between a PS3 and the Samsung BD-P3600 (or another one in the same price range that would work bett...

Re: Ice and Fire?

So, I read three pages of the topic, and realized that I have a test tomorrow in my 8 am... So getting some measure of sleep would be good. However, I do have a question I can't seem to find an answer to: Where the hell is Rickon? He went off with Osha, but after that we hear nothing about him, and ...

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill

Yes, I do have access to a pool as well. I've finished all the rehab for them, which included treadmill running, and went back to playing football afterwards. Does that help?

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill

Okay, same question, slightly different situation. I'm a college student, so I have (relatively) free access to treadmills and ellipticals (as well as bikes) simply by going here. I played football for a number of years, and both of my knees have been surgically repaired (ACL tears ftl). I'm looking...

Re: Most Excellent Gaming Moments

I'm going to have to go with Gears of War 2, earlier today. On Execution, they're all on the other building on River. One shot, goes through two heads for two headshots, sticks into another guy, who rolls towards a fourth. Four kills with one shot. I don't know that I can do better than that with on...

Re: Winterbirth and Bloodheir by Brian Ruckley

Sounds good. Mid-to-late '09, though? Damn. I should probably just wait on buying Bloodheir, so that I don't have a year long wait for the next one. And I've got the Malazan Book of the Fallen to hold me over for a bit, I suppose.

I agree; Winterbirth is an excellent book... Trying to scrounge up the money/time to go get Bloodheir.

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hello all. After lurking for... Yeah, I'm not gonna make a guess as to a time period. Rather irrelevant anyways. /shrug. To the point of the post, I'm a college student at Miami University (in Ohio, not Florida), just turned 18 a few weeks ago. I like to read, I write some online (been out of that f...
