Re: unwashed dishes and toilet paper tubes

Random question: How long until you can expect to see results from nutritional changes? I’m looking into the effect of eating certain kinds of food, like soy, on my energy levels, and I don’t know if doing one week without soy is enough to judge whether it helps or not. Does anyone know why everything I enter in Chrome’s address bar shows up three times in the Google search? Like this: http://i.imgur.com/R5Y1Fp9.png (after typing "google" and hitting Enter). Doesn't happen with other search engines or in Firefox. Edit: The URL of the search is interesting...

Mildly interesting thing I just found out about: In Windows 7, if you select a folder with music files and press the play key on the keyboard, it will play all files in it.

Re: Coding: Fleeting Thoughts

Thanks, but parsing is not the problem. I don’t know how to structure my code so the parameters … get to the relevant functions. One approach is, of course, making the config object global (at least this is what I think global means): # some import statements # stuff # configuration config = ConfigP...

Re: Coding: Fleeting Thoughts

What is the best way to handle settings (in a rather small Python application)? Or, to be more specific: I am writing an application that plays intervals , sometimes distorting the frequency of the tones a bit, which lets the user guess if it was too high or too low or perfect. Now I’d like some of ...

Re: Logical fallacies/douchebaggery in commercials.

I often see ads listing three (or more) benefits, X, Y, and Z, of some product, where Y is a consequence of X and Z, and not a direct consequence of using the product. That strikes me as slightly dishonest.

Re: Coding: Fleeting Thoughts

I’m trying to use this file upload thing with ASP.NET. The upload handler consists of three files: Two .cs files and one Default.aspx file. Problem is, I haven’t got the slightest idea of how ASP.NET works – do I have to compile the .cs files before uploading everything to the server? Do I need Visu...

Re: English as She Is Spoke [English practice]

My Academic Writing teacher today said that this was (is?) the correct solution to a punctuation exercise: "My brother was always my best friend when I was a child, especially, as we two were almost alone in the world." Is the second comma correct? It feels wrong.
