What about a Creative Commons type approach? Make most things open source so that people could learn from them and adapt them for their personal needs, but if they use it to make money then they would owe a percentage of their profits to the original author.

Why are we saying "Buh Bye"? Encyclopedia Britannica is not dying, it's adapting. I think the last time I actually used a print version was before the online version existed. This way everybody will always have easy access to the most current version of this wonderful source of information...
