Their new stuff is more refined and varied, and I'd say the production is better too. It's okay to not like it but there are as many improvements as there are downfalls. Isn't three albums of brooding enough?

Re: Sigur Ros

well it's not so much understanding it as the fact that instead of singing, to convey words, they sing to convey music--like an actual instrument. Resent me for the opinion if you like :P, but plenty of bands have entirely meaningless lyrics that only serve as a vehicle for rhythm or texture as com...

I'm way ahead of you guys. It's in my signature.

I don't have much more than High with most people due to listening to a lot of different artists a little bit each.

KoL is such an odd place like that. It's dangerous; don't let your loved ones near it!

I can't relate to this comic due to being 'so lonely ;_;'.

Re: Sampling: Love it or hate it it's the future! [IMHO]

I would love to get some suggestions of some more "non-classical" electronic music (not so much the dance variety, but more the avant-garde variety) You should definitely check out Venetian Snares. Ridiculously prolific electronic artist from Winnipeg, Canada, he works mostly in odd time ...

Re: You ever get disheartened by classical composers?

Someone's got to write them - I can't wait! As long as you don't mind that the vast majority of them are going to sound an awful lot like white noise. White noise is fine too. I like drone. When I say classical music makes me sleepy, I don't mean to say "Classical music is boring". I mean...

Re: You ever get disheartened by classical composers?

There are an infinite number of possible combinations of sound, and therefore an infinite number of songs yet to be written. Someone's got to write them - I can't wait! I don't even like classical music, really. I mean, I respect it, but it doesn't do much for me except make me sleepy. I'm glad we'v...

The Flaming Lips cover made me enjoy the Kylie original. How come no-one in America bought her new album? It was so perfectly marketed!

Pitchfork gave it a possitive review, too. Of all things.

Sampling was 'the future' a long time ago. I believe the Beatles did a bit of it?

I'm fond of DJ Shadow, the Avalanches, Cornelius, Girl Talk, MF Doom, and many other sample-heavy artists.

Xiu Xiu - Under Pressure I'm not a huge David Bowie or Queen fan, although I do enjoy both, but I swear - this may be the best song ever. It's even difficult to screw up. I've heard a few covers of it, and every one was atleast passable and at best ridiculously amazing. This song, as far as I'm conc...

How do you feel about 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas'?

The animation, that is. Personally, I think it's playful and imaginative, even if that all did come from the book first. But the narration + music are a bit of a drag. Now that I'm older, it's hard for it to take up the whole of my attention. Apparently, someone agreed with me. A big-hearted Canadia...
