Re: GO weiqi igo baduk

I'm bumping this thread simply because why not. I've been playing constantly since around January of this year where I had the presitigious rank of 22k on kgs. I'm now 7k and study too much. Some people say that I should just play tonnes of games, but I don't like it that way. I like doing a hundred...

Re: 請你說一點兒中文!(Chinese Practice)

I think this thread deserves a little love bump. I decided I would like to learn Chinese after just not enjoying Japanese anymore; I was thoroughly burnt out, and it felt nice to get excited/angry over another language again. I've just been doing pronunciation for the last week (Though I have little...

Re: English as She Is Spoke [English practice]

Even though I'm a native speaker, sometimes I have curiosity regarding why we say things in a certain way. Sure, there are things such as idioms, and this might be one, but I'm still curious nontheless, and don't want to make a forum thread everytime I have a new question about this language. Take ...

It's not that typing has kept up with my stream of consciousness; but that typing has become the stream itself.

Re: A certain "backwards" phrasing in English

Interesting. I'd have thought there wouldn't be significant differences in syntax between that and my dialect (RP) and any differences there were I'd expect to be due to the influence of Mexican Spanish however, apart from the slightly freer word order, none of the 'odd phrasings' seem particularly...

Re: A certain "backwards" phrasing in English

My native dialect, though I don't consider any dialect found in America as one (because it seems normal), would probably be Southern United States. I don't know if Texas counts - it's more like Northern Mexico.

Re: A certain "backwards" phrasing in English

I don't know how my phrasing could be sounding a bit odd; maybe Japanese has actually affected the way I think. If I would write another example of what I was trying to say in the opening post, it would change a sentence (with no context) such as "Will you write to my mother?" to "Wil...

Re: A certain "backwards" phrasing in English

That's a good point. It's also worth noting that English has a particularly weird sort of fixed word order (in that it can seem quite free at times, but this usually has to be accompanied by adding a load of particles and/or conjugating verbs differently). Out of interest (I'm guessing you're not a...

A certain "backwards" phrasing in English

Whilst writing something a few days ago, I was writing "and come into life", but decided to change that to "and into life come". It certainly has a different, more pronounced effect than the first sentence, and I don't find it too rare to find phrasing such as this, but I'm wonde...

Why do I still read this thread when I vowed to stop. It is a noun. All "adjectives" that use な are nouns. The な is just rentaikei for da And since I rushed that and have lost the edit function, here is the cont: All な users are still nouns at heart 100% な is 連体形 for だ 病気 is not an "...

Re: Persona 3 (and FES)

Nothing beats that classic Persona music that sounds like it's from a 70's porno. Anyways, I remember playing the game a long time ago being extremelly underleveled for every full moon. Besides the first full moon, the second was essentially balls hard for me. I believe it took 10-20 minutes to beat...
