Re: MIT

MIT I must say is a very awesome school, have you guys ever been to the student center? They have 4 burrito places. It's amazing. And the bookstore was the only place i've found thus far with books praising Bruce Schneier. Anyway, they do look at grade point average (97% of those accepted were in to...

Re: Today You Learned

Today I learned that, while it is frowned upon, moving the letters around on the Six Flag's sign in front of the park can be great fun! I also learned how terrible managers of amusement parks are at problem solving, as they made a huge fuss over the change, and yet I have not been questioned or even...

Re: Impenetratable barrier

Have you ever played the original SIMS? (if so) do you remember how you spent time in front of the mirror in order to gain charisma points? (if not, no big deal, you get the idea) Same basic idea. Attempt to look yourself in the mirror and explain it to yourself. Act as if though the person you see ...

Re: Recommend me something interesting to study

Considering your remuse (apology for no accent) I would recommend abstract algebra. It doesn't really require any concept you haven't learned yet (maybe a bit of multivariable calculus, depending on where) plus the subject sounds plain cool! :D If you were to take this path, I would recommend Dummit...

Re: What to do over summer vacation?

Teach yourself an instrument, or start taking lessons! This is always a great way to pass the time. If you're a guy, try something not too common for a man.. like the flute perhaps? I find the summer much less boring when you have a creative outlet. I started playing the acoustic guitar over the sum...

Hi guys. Simple introduction to the query, i'm attempting to make it onto the US IMO team next year (was about 35th in the USAMO this year, really messed one up though, should do better this year. :? ) and thus i'm trying to go through some practice proofs given at the big competition to prepare for...

I'm disappointed in you all. I read all 265 posts of this thread, and not ONE of you has mentioned Mercenary. They are amazing. Best band, 'nuff said.

Oh well, at least we got some of the better ones out there:

Kamelot
Dimmu Borgir
Nightwish
Within Temptation (sort-of)
Mudvayne
Disturbed
Bathory

Revenge != survival. In fact if you want to maximise your chances of survival, you give them everything you have and don't try to fuck around. Also, thank you for making an unfounded assumption. Revenge does not equal survival. Your statement sounds like a recipe for death or exceptional injury. At...

Oh yes, definately short breaks. I find if you're going to be studying for extensive periods of time (4+ hours consecutavely) taking about 15 minutes each 60-90 minutes to just sit back and listen to music, or just to think, really helps. It also helps avoids headaches, which can take away your will...

Don't worry, as far as i'm aware they also take a peek at other grades in those classes that you might have B's in (if it's one or two and the rest are A's) to see if your classmates also got low grades. It might be considered Ellipsis, just leaving out "unnecessary" words to create an effect. I like the fast-paced imagery it gives to the sentance though. Ellipsis might be somewhat of a stretch, though.

My dear Lockheart, it's elementary really! Simply divide by zero. Especially dividing numbers approaching zero by it. Put simply, don't...
