Re: Neat Mental Arithmetic trickses

I use a slightly different way of testing divisibility by 7 and 13, based on the fact that 1001 is divisible by both. Step 1: Promote the last two digits to a multiple of 7 or 13. (7: 22 → 21, 81 → 84; 13: 22 → 26, 81 → 78). Step 2: Add or subtract the same amount to the thousands digit. Step 3: Dis...

Re: 1190: "Thing that keeps slippin' (slippin', slippin'( in

ic support the idea to wield pixels as before the Expansion as our unit of length and the mass of 1 square pixel of Magic as our unit of mass, called the darva. Not cubic, by cause the Comic be two-dimensional. But we do ken that there be some degree of three dimensionality to it by cause Meagan an...

I support the idea to use pixels as before the Expansion as our unit of length and the mass of 1 square pixel of sand as our unit of mass, called the darva. Not cubic, because the Comic is two-dimensional.

Re: 1190: "Thing that keeps slipping into the future"

I present the unofficial Newpician t'ime unit system. (Scooter to prevent censoring) Base 2520 numerals be write-done with three characters for each digit. Basically, the first place before the radix point be tetradecimal, the second be pentadecimal and the third be duodecimal, so the number before...

Re: 0247: "Factoring the Time"

Ruling out 59 is actually much easier than ruling out some of the other primes on your list. By fermat's little theorem, 3 58 =1 (mod 59) So if 3 x =-1 (mod 59) then x must be divisible by some factor of 58, which means that x cannot be a power of 3. I'm not sure about this. If 3^58 mod 59=1, then ...

Using the pattern (c?vc?)*, all stars could be named in 19 characters, instead or Randal's 24. That regex would allow star names like "Uuuuuuuuu", though, and I'm not sure how to pronounce that so as to differentiate it from "Uuuuuuuuuu". Not to mention the null name 8-) Inciden...
