Re: What-if 0082: "Hitting a Comet"

My money's on the guy taking the boat being the one to survive - though I don't know enough about the local topography and/or climate to judge how that affects the outcome. It also depends on the details of the vehicles... I'd bet on the guy flying the plane, since you need a flight certificate in ...

Such people tend to get frustrated and upset when seeing people behaving in a manner sub-optimal for their own happiness. You make a good point, here. The message of this strip is th...

It looks more like she has her hand on the back of her neck. To me it looks like she's deep in thought, trying to decide what to do next.

I put my cursor 1 pixel above the water line and it never moves. It "blips" a bit, but doesn't appear to be rising to me. It's a PNG (not a GIF disguised as a PNG, an actual PNG), so it not changing. It's the image is being updated to point to a new location. So it's actually a new image....

I may be wrong, but I think JT was sarcastically suggesting we dump heavy nuclear materials into the sun on the same "what could go wrong" flippancy as the suggestion to dump them in the ocean. I'm not an expert on stellar fission but IIRC aren't there some mechanisms by which heavy eleme...

So all they really needed was thermite? Too bad thermite requires substances like aluminum or magnesium, which can't be de-oxidized by heating, but require lots of electricity instead (and not just a lightning bolt either). Probably only a wizard would even know about such stuff in Middle-Earth . ....

As I understand it, ninjas are like mercenaries, they are paid to be on specific missions to do certain things. So you could just ask the ninja nicely, or pay him, not to kill you or the pirate. You could ride the dinosaur across and pay the ninja and pirate not to kill each other while in the boat...
