What to eat?

Hey all! I'm currently training for my preliminary "getting into decent shape" goal: run a 10k in less than 45 minutes! After that, the long-term plan is to become actually fast, but short-term goals go first. Now especially after training, I like to snack! Almost never fatty stuff, normal...

Re: Favorite Time Signatures

I was educated in jazz music, where you normally use only the "ascending" melodic minor ladder. For example: what I call G melodic minor has a B flat and an F sharp. But if you free your mind, you can devise crazy ladders at will, and if done well (not something I'm really good at myself, ...

Re: Favorite Time Signatures

The key signature tells you what key the piece is in. If I read say 1 sharp in the key signature, then I will instinctively say that the piece is in G major or E minor, then I check for the accidentals and focus note to determine which key is it in. Very important for pieces which does have a key (...

Re: Do you actually rate your songs?

I don't rate my playlist, for the simple reason that I don't have an MP3 playlist (shock and horror!). If I want listen to music, I just throw in a CD, or, if I want to explore new music, I tend to use YouTube and similar services. I genuinely do not understand how people manage to listen to "r...

Re: 0852: "Consecutive Vowels"

In Dutch we can now do even better with consonants, since Борщ (very filling Russian beat-soup) has become a Dutch word as well, with official spelling "borsjtsj"! Thus the word "borsjtsjschranser" translates to "devourer of Борщ", and is written with 10 ( ten ) consecu...

Matlab beginner problem

As a beginner to Matlab (though with quite some other programming experience), the way it handles matrices seems somewhat arcane to me. If I have a 3*3*3 matrix named, let's say, A; and I ask for its first element A(1); then I would expect this to be a 3*3 matrix. Right? However, rather than returni...

Re: the most depressing song: help me find it!

I just listened to Frankie Teardrop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YprQnzRfjg
Jesus Christ, that is spooky and depressing. I switched it off after 6 minutes or so, from what I read the end is even worse.
Don't listen to it! And don't say I didn't warn you...
